The word pentecost comes from the Greek meaning count fifty, but the question is from what?

We believe that Josephus the Jewish Historian has pinpointed the exact day from which to count fifty days.

But on the SECOND day of unleavened bread, which is the SIXTEENTH day of the month. They FIRST partake of the fruits of the earth....They offer the first fruits.....on the fiftieth day which is Pentecost.

The second day of unleavened bread or the sixteenth day is the morrow after the Passover day or the High Sabbath. This High Sabbath being the first day of unleavend bread.

Deut 16:9 (last part) begin to NUMBER the seven weeks from such time as thou beginnest to put the SICKLE TO THE CORN. Its a working day, the day following the full moon. The day part of the 16 Nissan.

Leviticus 23:15-16 And ye shall count unto you FROM the morrow after the Sabbath, FROM the day that ye brought the sheaf of the wave offering; SEVEN Sabbaths shall be complete: even unto the morrow after the SEVENTH Sabbath shall ye number fifty days:

Josh.5:10-12 And the children of Israel encamped in Gilgal and kept the Passover on the fourteenth day of the month at even in the plains of Jericho. And they did eat of the old corn of the land on the morrow after the Passover, unleavened cakes and parched corn on the selfsame day.

The Israelites were God's first fruits out of bondage on the 16th day of unleavened bread.
