Bible "errors"

What are the ERRORS in the

King James Version Bible? Print

Smaller Text | Larger Text

What is WRONG with Modern Bible Translations? The Old Testament has been faithfully preserved by the Jews in what is known as the Masoretic Text. There are few translation problems with the Old Testament.

However, most modern translations, from the Revised Standard Version Bible (RSV) to the New International Version Bible (NIV), use as their source for the New Testament a Greek Text based upon the Codex Vaticanus and Codex Sinaiticus of the fourth century. This text, publicized by Westcott and Hort, is also known as the Alexandrian Text. It originated in Egypt and has been massaged by "higher critics" down through the ages. These manuscripts, used in the RSV, represent less than 5% of known Greek Biblical manuscripts, but are supposedly more authentic because they are "old."

The bulk of New Testament manuscripts were copied century after century from earlier ones as they wore out. Older copies did not survive because these texts were used until worn out. This text, the so-called "Received Text" or "Byzantine Text" (also termed "Syrian", "Antioch", or Koine text) was used in the King James Version. Nearly 4,000 manuscripts of this Byzantine or Official Text agree almost perfectly with each other, and are a far better standard to go by than corrupt copies - no matter how early they were made. Located primarily at Mt. Athos in Greece, copies of the official Greek Text give us a very reliable record of the New Testament scriptures.

Is there PROOF the Received Text is Correct? Jay P. Green, Sr., General Editor and Translator of the Interlinear Greek-English New Testament, states in his preface:

"The market-place is being glutted with new books which are being represented as VERSIONS of the Bible. Each one claims to be the very word of God, yet there are literally thousands of differences between them . . . . they all leave out dozens of references to the deity of Jesus Christ, and they add words which tend to question His virgin birth, His substitutionary, fully satisfying atonement.

"This is due to their decision to depend upon an Alexandrian [Egyptian] textbase, instead of that body of God's words which has been universally received and believed in for nineteen centuries, known to us as the Received Text.

"These new versions [such as the New International Version Bible, New Jerusalem Bible and others] are not only marked by additions, but also by subtractions, since some four whole pages of words, phrases, sentences and verses have been omitted by these new versions. And these are words attested to as God's words by overwhelming evidence contained in all the Greek manuscripts . . . .

"The Bible states:

"For I say to you, Until the heavens and the earth pass away, in no way shall pass away one iota or one point from the Law, until all things come to pass. " (Matthew 5:18, Green's paraphrased).

"What then is the evidence these Bible-alterers offer to persuade you to give up the precious words they have removed from their versions? Mainly, they cite two manuscripts, admittedly old, but also admittedly carelessly executed. The first manuscript, called SINAITICUS, was so poorly executed that seven different hands of 'textual critics' can be discerned as they tried to impose their views on the Bible . . . it was discarded, found in a wastebasket fourteen centuries after it was executed. The second manuscript, called VATICANUS, laid on a shelf in the Vatican library at Rome until 1431, and was considered so corrupt that no one would use it . . . . they have systematically removed Luke's witness to the ascension of Christ -- and of course they have done away entirely with Mark's witness to the ascension, simply because these last twelve verses do not appear in those two corrupt manuscripts, the Vaticanus and Sinaiticus . . . .

" . . . Origen, an early textual critic . . . said, that 'the Scriptures are of little use to those who understand them as they are written' . . . . given the opportunity, many like Origen will actually alter the manuscripts to make them say what they understand them to mean....Justin Martyr, Valentinus, Clement of Alexandria, Marcion, Tatian, and a horde of others practiced their 'textual science' by operating on manuscripts, or by writing their own 'versions' . . . .

" . . . Today there are more than 5,000 manuscripts and lectionaries in Greek as witnesses to the New Testament text. And 95% of them witness to the Received Text readings [contained in Green's Interlinear and the King James Version]. Partly due to the fact that ancient manuscripts containing the Received Text were worn out by use, while the Alexandrian textbase manuscripts were preserved by the dry conditions of Egypt, some have sought to discredit the Received Text because they say it is not ancient. But now that manuscript portions from the second century are being unearthed, it is found that many of the readings of the Received Text which had been tagged scornfully as 'late readings' by nearly unanimous consent of the 'textual scientists' are appearing in these [newly found] manuscripts. Readings which were before called late and spurious have been found in these early-date manuscripts . . . . Yet strangely, in textual criticism classes, such discoveries are swept under the rug, not reported to the class."

The fact that modern versions slavishly depend on the Egyptian and Vatican corruptions of the New Testament should make us avoid them as our main Bible for Bible study.

WHY are there ERRORS in the King James Version Bible?

You have probably heard the joke about the bigoted Protestant fundamentalist who said, "If the King James Version was good enough for the apostles, it is good enough for me!" People sometimes forget that the KJV was published in 1611 A.D.

For centuries prior to 1611, Latin was the only scholarly language in Europe. The Latin Vulgate translation of Jerome, based upon a corrupt Alexandrian Text, was the official text of the powerful Roman Catholic Church.

Protestant translators sometimes did not have access to all of the Received Greek Official Text, and being familiar with the Vulgate, they sometimes put words into their translations based upon the Latin which were never there in the original Greek. Schaff points out that in about 80 places in the New Testament, the KJV adopts Latin readings not found in the Greek. Erasmus had a corrupt, incomplete text of Revelation to work from, and hence this book has many errors in the KJV.

The King James translators did a marvelous job with the materials they had. While this article is necessary to point out the KJV errors, it should be noted that the errors, omissions and additions made by the RSV, NIV, and other modern translations are much, much WORSE!

King James Version Bible (KJV) Translation Errors

Below is a partial listing of King James Version (KJV) Bible translation errors. The verse(s) in question are given first and then what is the correct or better translation.

Genesis 1:2

KJV Bible: "And the earth was without form, and void; . . . "

Better Translation: "And the earth became without form, and void; . . . "

Comments: The word translated "was" is hayah (Hebrew: היה, Strong's Concordance Number #H1961) and denotes a condition different than a former condition, as in Genesis 19:26.

Genesis 10:9

KJV Bible: " . . . Even as Nimrod the mighty hunter before the LORD."

Better Translation: " . . . Even as Nimrod the mighty hunter in place of the LORD."

Comments: The word "before" is incorrect and gives the connotation that Nimrod was a good guy, which is false. Nimrod placed himself in OPPOSITION to God.

Leviticus 16:8, 10, 26

KJV Bible: "And Aaron shall cast lots upon the two goats; one lot for the LORD, and the other lot for the scapegoat. . . . But the goat, on which the lot fell to be the scapegoat, shall be presented alive before the LORD, to make an atonement with him, and to let him go for a scapegoat into the wilderness. . . . And he that let go the goat for the scapegoat shall wash his clothes, and bathe his flesh in water, and afterward come into the camp."

Better Translation: "And Aaron shall cast lots upon the two goats; one lot for the LORD, and the other lot for Azazel. . . . But the goat on which the lot fell for Azazel shall be presented alive before the LORD, to make an atonement upon it and sent away into the wilderness for Azazel . . . And he that let go the goat for Azazel shall wash his clothes and bathe his flesh in water, and afterward come into the camp." (Holy Bible in its Original Order Translation)

Comments: The meaning of the word scapegoat is different today than it was during the time of the King James translators. The Online Etymology Dictionary states concerning the word scapegoat and its original meaning that it is:

" . . . a mistranslation in Vulgate of Hebrew 'azazel (Leviticus 16:8,10,26), which was read as 'ez ozel or the "goat that departs," but is actually the proper name of a devil or demon in Jewish mythology . . . "

Today the word scapegoat has the connotation of someone who is UNJUSTLY blamed for the sins of others. The Azazel goat represents Satan, who is no scapegoat. He is guilty of his part in our sins.

Deuteronomy 24:1

KJV Bible: "When a man hath taken a wife, and married her, and it come to pass that she find no favour in his eyes, because he hath found some uncleanness in her: then let him write her a bill of divorcement, and give it in her hand, and send her out of his house."

Better Translation: "When a man takes a wife and marries her, and it happens that she finds no favor in his eyes because he has found some uncleanness in her, and he writes her a certificate of divorce, puts it in her hand, and sends her out of his house . . ."

Comments: As the Savior explained in Matthew 19, Moses did not command divorce. This statute is regulating the permission of divorce because of the HARDNESS of the people's hearts.

2Kings 2:23

KJV Bible: "And he went up from thence unto Bethel: and as he was going up by the way, there came forth little children out of the city, and mocked him, and said unto him, Go up, thou bald head; go up, thou bald head."

Better Translation: "And he went up from thence unto Bethel: and as he was going up by the way, there came forth young men out of the city, and mocked him, and said unto him, Go up, thou bald head; go up, thou bald head."

Isaiah 65:17

KJV Bible: "For, behold, I create new heavens and a new earth: and the former shall not be remembered, nor come into mind."

Better Translation: "For, behold, I am creating [am about to create] new heavens and new earth: and the former shall not be remembered, nor come into mind.

Ezekiel 20:25

KJV Bible: "Wherefore I gave them also statutes that were not good, and judgments whereby they should not live; "

Better Translation: "Wherefore I permitted them, or gave them over to, false statutes that are not good, and judgments whereby they should not live."

Comments: God's laws are good, perfect and right. This verse shows that since Israel rejected God's laws, He allowed them to hurt themselves by following false man made customs and laws.

Daniel 8:14

KJV Bible: "And he said unto me, Unto two thousand and three hundred days; then shall the sanctuary be cleansed."

Better Translation: "And he said unto me, Unto two thousand, three hundred evenings and mornings; then shall the sanctuary be cleansed."

Malachi 4:6

KJV Bible: "And he shall turn the heart of the fathers to the children, and the heart of the children to their fathers, lest I come and smite the earth with a curse."

Better Translation: "And he shall turn the heart of the fathers to the children, and the heart of the children to their fathers, lest I come and smite the earth with utter destruction."

Comments: The word curse doesn't give the proper sense here. The phrase should be translated as utter destruction as it is in Zechariah 14:11.

Matthew 5:48

KJV Bible: "Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect."

Better Translation: "Become ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect."

Comments: "Perfect" here means "spiritually mature." Sanctification is a process of overcoming with the aid of the Holy Spirit.

Matthew 24:22

KJV Bible: "And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect's sake those days shall be shortened."

Better Translation: "And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved alive: but for the elect's sake those days shall be shortened.

Comments: This verse needs an additional word to clarify its meaning.

Matthew 27:49

KJV Bible: "The rest said, Let be, let us see whether Elias will come to save him."

Better Translation: "The rest said, Let be, let us see whether Elias will come to save him. And another took a spear and pierced His side, and out came water and blood."

Comments: Matthew 27:49 omits text which was in the original. The Moffatt translation correctly adds it, while the RSV puts it in a footnote: "And another took a spear and pierced His side, and out came water and blood." The Savior's death came when a soldier pierced His side, Revelation 1:7.

Matthew 28:1

KJV Bible: "In the end of the sabbath, as it began to dawn toward the first day of the week, came Mary Magdalene and the other Mary to see the sepulchre."

Better Translation: "Now late on Sabbath, as it was getting dusk toward the first day of the week came Mary Magdalene and the other Mary to see the sepulchre."

Comments: The Sabbath does not end at dawn but at dusk.

Luke 2:14

KJV Bible: "Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men. "

Better Translation: "Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace among men of God's good pleasure or choosing."

Comments: There will be peace on earth among men who have God's good will in their hearts.

Luke 14:26

KJV Bible: "If any man come to me, and hate not his father, and mother, and wife, and children, and brethren, and sisters, yea, and his own life also, he cannot be my disciple."

Better Translation: "If any man come to me, and love less by comparison his father, and mother, and wife, and children, and brethren, and sisters, yea, and his own life also, he cannot be my disciple."

Comments: This verse has the unfortunate translation of the Greek word miseo, Strong's Concordance Number #3404, as "hate", when it should be rendered "love less by comparison." We are not to hate our parents and family!

John 1:17

KJV Bible: "For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ.

Better Translation: "For the law was given through Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ."

Comments: This is another instance of a poor preposition. Moses did not proclaim his OWN law, but the law that GOD gave him to proclaim.

John 1:31, 33

KJV Bible: "And I knew him not: but that he should be made manifest to Israel, therefore am I come baptizing with water . . . And I knew him not: but he that sent me to baptize with water, the same said unto me, Upon whom thou shalt see the Spirit descending, and remaining on him, the same is he which baptizeth with the Holy Ghost."

Better Translation: "And I knew him not: but that he should be made manifest to Israel, therefore am I come baptizing in water . . . And I knew him not: but he that sent me to baptize in water, the same said unto me, Upon whom thou shalt see the Spirit descending, and remaining on him, the same is he which baptizeth with the Holy Ghost."

Comments: Pouring or sprinkling with water is not the scriptural method of baptism, but only thorough immersion in water.

John 13:2

KJV Bible: ". . . And supper being ended, the devil having now put into the heart of Judas Iscariot, Simon's son, to betray him; "

Better Translation: " . . . And during supper, the devil having now put into the heart of Judas Iscariot, Simon's son, to betray him; "

Comments: This verse is correctly translated in the New Revised Standard Version Bible Translation.

Acts 12:4

KJV Bible: "And when he had apprehended him, he put him in prison, and delivered him to four quaternions of soldiers to keep him; intending after Easter to bring him forth to the people."

Better Translation: "And when he had apprehended him, he put him in prison, and delivered him to four quaternions of soldiers to keep him; intending after Passover to bring him forth to the people."

Comments: The Greek word pascha (Greek: πάσχα, Strong's Concordance Number #G3957) in this verse has been inaccurately translated as Easter. This word should be translated as Passover, which agrees with the translation of pascha as Passover as found in Matthew 26:2 and other verses.

1Corinthians 1:18

KJV Bible: "For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God."

Better Translation: "For the preaching of the cross is to them that are perishing foolishness; but unto us which are being saved it is the power of God."

Comments: Salvation is not a destination completely reached in this life. Believers must endure and remain faithful to God to the end of their lives before being fully saved. (See Matthew 24:13, Mark 13:13, 2Timothy 2:10, etc.)

1Corinthians 15:29

KJV Bible: "Else what shall they do which are baptized for the dead, if the dead rise not at all? why are they then baptized for the dead?"

Better Translation: "Else what shall they do which are baptized for the hope of the dead, if the dead rise not at all? why are they then baptized for the hope of the dead?"

2Corinthians 6:2

KJV Bible: "(For he saith, I have heard thee in a time accepted, and in the day of salvation have I succoured thee: behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.) "

Better Translation: "(For he saith, I have heard thee in a time accepted, and in a day of salvation have I succoured thee: behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.) "

Comments: This verse in the New Testament is a quote from Isaiah 49:8 which writes about a day, NOT the day, of salvation. The day of salvation is not the same for each individual. The firstfruits have their day of salvation during this life. The rest of humanity will have their full chance at salvation in the second resurrection.

2Thessalonians 2:10

KJV Bible: "And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved. "

Better Translation: "And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that are perishing; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved. "

1Timothy 4:8

KJV Bible: "For bodily exercise profiteth little: but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come. "

Better Translation: "For bodily exercise profiteth for a little time: but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come. "

1Timothy 6:10

KJV Bible: "For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows."

Better Translation: "For the love of money is a root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows."

Hebrews 4:8-9

KJV Bible: "For if Jesus had given them rest, then would he not afterward have spoken of another day. There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God. "

Better Translation: "For if Joshua had given them rest, then would he not afterward have spoken of another day. There remaineth therefore a keeping of a sabbath to the people of God. "

Revelation 14:4

KJV Bible: "These are they which were not defiled with women; for they are virgins. These are they which follow the Lamb whithersoever he goeth. These were redeemed from among men, being the firstfruits unto God and to the Lamb."

Better Translation: "These are they which were not defiled with women; for they are virgins. These are they which follow the Lamb whithersoever he goeth. These were redeemed from among men, being a firstfruits unto God and to the Lamb."

Comments: This verse should be translated with "a firstfruits" because the 144,000 are not all the firstfruits of God.

Revelation 20:4-5

KJV Bible: "And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them: and I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which had not worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years. But the rest of the dead lived not again until the thousand years were finished. This is the first resurrection."

Better Translation: "And I saw thrones, and they sat on them, and judgment was committed to them. Then I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded for their witness to Jesus and for the word of God, who had not worshiped the beast or his image, and had not received his mark on their foreheads or on their hands. And they lived and reigned with Christ for a thousand years. But the rest of the dead did not live again until the thousand years were finished. This is the first resurrection." (New King James Version Bible Translation)

Comments: The last part of verse five, which states "This is the first resurrection." can seem a bit confusing. This verse refers back to "they lived and reigned with Christ for a thousand years." found in verse 4.

Revelation 20:10

KJV Bible: "And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever."

Better Translation: "And the devil that deceived them were cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever."

Comments: Verse 10 of Revelation 20 should state "were cast" into the lake of fire because the beast and false prophet were mortal human beings who were burned up in the lake of fire 1,000 years previous to this time (Revelation 19:20). The point is that Satan will be cast into the same lake of fire into which the beast and false prophet were cast a thousand years previously.

Revelation 22:2

KJV Bible: "In the midst of the street of it, and on either side of the river, was there the tree of life, which bare twelve manner of fruits, and yielded her fruit every month: and the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations."

Better Translation: "In the midst of the street of it, and on either side of the river, was there the tree of life, which bare twelve manner of fruits, and yielded her fruit every month: and the leaves of the tree were for the health of the nations."

Which italicized words in the King James Bible are INCORRECT? No language can be translated word for word into another language. Hebrew and Greek idioms often do not come through clearly into literal English. Thus, beginning in 1560 with the Geneva Bible, translators initiated the practice of ADDING italicized words they felt clarified and made it easier to understand what the original language was stating for a particular verse. The fifty-four King James translators did the same. Many times their added italicized words DO help make the meaning of a particular passage clearer. At other times, however, they erroneously added words based on their biases and misunderstandings of Biblical doctrine.

Matthew 24:24

KJV Bible: "For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect. "

Comments: This verse should NOT have the italicized words "it were." It IS possible for the elect to be deceived. We need to be on guard!

Luke 3:23-38

KJV Bible: "And Jesus himself began to be about thirty years of age, being (as was supposed) the son of Joseph, which was the son of Heli, Which was the son of Matthat, which was the son of Levi, which was the son of Melchi, which was the son of Janna, which was the son of Joseph . . ."

Comments: The italicized words "the son" are not in the original Greek. Actually, Luke gives the fleshly descent of the Savior through Mary, while Matthew gives the legal descent through Joseph.

John 8:28

KJV Bible: "Then said Jesus unto them, When ye have lifted up the Son of man, then shall ye know that I am he, and that I do nothing of myself; but as my Father hath taught me, I speak these things."

Comments: The "he" in italics was NOT spoken by Jesus. This added word completely obscures the fact that Jesus was claiming to be the great "I AM" of the Old Testament (Exodus 3:14, John 8:58).

Romans 1:7

KJV Bible: "To all that be in Rome, beloved of God, called to be saints: Grace to you and peace from God our Father, and the Lord Jesus Christ. "

Comments: The italicized words "to be" were added in error. True Christians are NOW saints.

1Corinthians 7:19

KJV Bible: "Circumcision is nothing, and uncircumcision is nothing, but the keeping of the commandments of God. "

Comments: This verse actually NEEDS some italicized words to make the meaning clear, such as: "For circumcision is nothing, and uncircumcision is nothing, rather the important thing is the keeping of the commandments of God."

Colossians 2:16-17

KJV Bible: "Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days: Which are a shadow of things to come; but the body is of Christ. "

Comments: These verses can only be properly understood if the italicized word "is" in verse 17 is left out. The message of these verses is to NOT let men judge you as doing wrong when you observe God's holy days, new moons and sabbaths; let the body of Christ (the Church) do the judging.

1Timothy 3:11

KJV Bible: "Even so must their wives be grave, not slanderers, sober, faithful in all things."

Comments: The "their" is unwarranted and not implied in the original language.

2Peter 2:5

KJV Bible: "And spared not the old world, but saved Noah the eighth person, a preacher of righteousness, bringing in the flood upon the world of the ungodly; "

Comments: This verse should not have "person, a" in it. Noah was the eighth preacher of righteousness.

1John 2:23 KJV Bible: "Whosoever denieth the Son, the same hath not the Father: (but) he that acknowledgeth the Son hath the Father also. "

Comments: The phrase in italics was added based upon the Latin text and is not in the original Greek language for the verse.

King James Version Bible Punctuation Errors

Luke 23:43

KJV Bible: "And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, To day shalt thou be with me in paradise."

Better Translation: "And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee To day, shalt thou be with me in paradise."

Comments: This verse has been used by some to claim that Jesus went straight to heaven at His death. The original Greek did not have punctuation marks as we do today. The clarifying comma after "thee" should be moved to after the words "To day." The believing malefactor would be with Christ in the paradise of the redeemed when he was resurrected not right after his death but FAR INTO THE FUTURE as part of the second resurrection of the dead.

Mark 16:9

KJV Bible: "Now when Jesus was risen early the first day of the week, he appeared first to Mary Magdalene, out of whom he had cast seven devils."

Better Translation: "Now when Jesus was risen, early the first day of the week he appeared first to Mary Magdalene, out of whom he had cast seven devils."

Comments: There is a missing implied comma between "risen" and "early" and there should be no comma after the word "week." Jesus was NOT resurrected on a Sunday morning. Jesus died on a Wednesday and was resurrected Saturday evening, a FULL three days as was prophecied.

Erroneous Additions to the King James Version Bible The following additions should be DELETED from the King James Version Bible. These additions were derived from the Latin Vulgate, a Roman Catholic Bible translation created by Jerome in 338 A.D. His translation was based on CORRUPTED Greek texts.

Matthew 27:35

Text to Remove: "that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, They parted my garments among them, and upon my vesture did they cast lots."

John 8:9-10

Text to Remove: "being convicted by their own conscience . . . unto the last . . . alone . . . and saw none but the woman . . . those thine accusers."

Comments: The correct translation of the verse, based on the Greek text, is:

"But when they heard it, they went away, one by one, beginning with the eldest, and Jesus was left with the woman being before him. Jesus lifted himself up and said to her, 'Woman, where are they? Has no one condemned you?'"

Acts 9:5-6

Text to Remove: "it is hard for thee to kick against the pricks. And he trembling and astonished said, Lord, what wilt thou have me to do? And the Lord said unto him . . . ."

Acts 10:6

Text to Remove: "he shall tell thee what thou oughtest to do"

Acts 10:21

Text to Remove: "which were sent unto him from Cornelius"

Acts 21:8

Text to Remove: "that were of Paul's company"

Hebrews 12:20

Text to Remove: "or with a dart shot through"

1John 2:23

Text to Remove: "(but) he that acknowledgeth the Son hath the Father also"

1John 5:7-8

Text to Remove: "in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one. And there are three that bear witness in earth,"

Comments: Most modern translations agree that this was an uninspired addition to the Latin Vulgate to support the unscriptural doctrine of the trinity.

Revelation 1:8

Text to Remove: "the beginning and the ending"

Revelation 1:11

Text to Remove: "I am Alpha and Omega, the first and the last: and . . . which are in Asia"

Revelation 1:20

Text to Remove: "which thou sawest"

Revelation 2:17

What verses are MISPLACED in the KJV Bible?

Matthew 23:13-14

Proper Order: "But woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye devour widows' houses, and for a pretense make long prayer: therefore ye shall receive the greater damnation. Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye shut up the kingdom of heaven against men: for ye neither go in yourselves, neither suffer ye them that are entering to go in."

Romans 16:25-27

Proper Order: Romans 16:25-27 belongs AFTER Romans 14:23 and not at the end of the book.

Hebrews 9:28

Proper Order: "So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; and unto them without sin that look for him shall he appear the second time unto salvation."

Words LEFT OUT or replaced in KJV Bible that should be added back Below are some words and phrases that were MISTAKENLY left out or replaced in the King James Version Bible (KJV) that should be added back into God's word.

Luke 9:50

Verse should read: "And Jesus said to him, Forbid him not, for he is not against you. For whoever is not against you is for you."

Luke 10:22

Verse should read: "And having turned to the disciples, he said:"

John 1:28

Verse should read: "These things were done in Bethany beyond Jordan, where John was baptizing."

Acts 9:19

Conclusion

The King James Version Bible is a word-for-word translation. Other translations, such as the New International Version (NIV), are meaning-for-meaning translations. The multitude of modern translations have not captured the elegance and beauty, NOR THE OVERALL ACCURACY of the King James Version. C. S. Lewis sagely remarked, "Odd the way the less the Bible is read, the more it is translated." In spite of its imperfections, the King James Version remains a masterpiece.

BibleStudy.org recommends using the King James Version Bible, New King James Version Bible Translation or the Holy Bible in Its Original Order - A Faithful Version.as a main study Bible.

PLEASE NOTE

That there are typographical and translational errors in Exodus. It was discovered while producing this article. This is from the Authorised version. It is because Exodus 33:11 And the lord spake unto Moses [ face to face], as a man speaketh unto his friend, APPEARS to contradict, Exodus 33:20 And he said, thou Canst not see my face: for there shall not man see me and live.

The part in square brackets should read [person to person] to be more accurate.

In, Exodus 33:15.----the "he " should read, "I" to make logical sense. Reading--And I ( Moses) said unto him (GOD), if thy (GOD'S) presence go not with me (Moses), carry us not up hence.

In, Exodus 33: 18. ---And I (Moses) said, I (Moses) beseech (ask) thee (GOD), shew me (Moses) thy (GOD'S) glory.

#14 Exodus 33:9 And it came to pass, as Moses entered into the tabernacle, the CLOUDY PILLAR DESCENDED, and stood at the door of the tabernacle, and the lord talked with Moses

#15 In, Exodus 33: 11 And the lord spake unto Moses [ person to person], as a man speaketh unto his friend.

#16 Exodus 33:13 Now therefore, I pray thee, if I have found grace in thy sight, show me now thy way, that I may know thee, that I may find grace in thy sight: and consider that this nation is thy people. And he said, My presence shall go with thee, and I will give thee rest. [15] And I said unto him, If thy presence go not with me, carry us not up hence. For wherein shall it be known here that I and thy people have found grace in they sight? is it not in that thou goest with us? so shall we be separated, I and thy people, from all the people that are upon the face of the earth.

#17 Exodus 33:17 And the Lord said unto Moses, I will (show Moses) do this thing also that thou has spoke: for thou hast found grace in my sight, and I Know thee by name.[18] And I said, I beseech thee,[19] show me thy glory, And he said. I will make all my goodness pass before thee, and I will proclaim the name of the Lord before thee; and will be gracious to whom I will be gracious, and will show mercy on whom I will show mercy. And he said, thou canst not see my face: for their shall no man see me and live. And the Lord said, Behold, there is a place by me, and thou shalt stand upon a rock: and it shall come to pass, while my glory passeth by, that I will put thee in a cleft of the rock, and will cover thee with my hand while I pass by: and I will take away mine hand, and thou shalt see my back parts: but my face shall not be seen.

#18 20 And he said, thou Canst not see my face: for there shall not man see me and live.

#19 23 and I will take away mine hand, and thou shalt see my back parts: but my face shall not be seen.

So what can we learn from all this?

#1, #2, #3, #5, #9, #11, all show that there are two separate beings, #6 indicates more than one being. #7 has been shown to be the spokesman talking to Isaiah about lifeless idols which people bow down to. Now #2 and #4 become even more interesting as it shows the ability of God to switch on and switch off his Brightness. The spokesman ( Creator) could not dwell among us without switching his physical brightness off; to create Adam in the first place he switched his light power off; when he carried on his creation by forming every beast of field, and every fowl of the air; and brought them unto Adam to see what he would call them: and whatsoever Adam called every living creature, that was the name thereof. And Adam gave names to all cattle and to the fowl of the air and to the beast of the field. This could not have been done without God switching his light power off and it is speculated that this creation alone could have taken a further 7 years. We agree with this.

Adam would have studied the various species in action and then gave them names.

#10, Gods ability to switch off his brightness; #11, at that time this left only one power source left in the universe.

#15, by placing [person to person] in [11] gives a more sense to what happened. A pillar of cloud descended[ 9], and stood at the door. Therefore God was covered in a gaseous mass to dampen down his brightness. Thus with Moses protected from Gods brightness, God could talk to Moses as a friend talks to a friend, but of course Moses could not see Gods face as there was a protective white shield between them. They were however geometrically face to face. The next thing we learn is that this was not good enough for Moses because he wanted a closer look at the goodies. So we come to the gap in the rock bit,[22]. Now this becomes even more fascinating. because God was going to show Moses as much as he dared.

God placed Moses in the crack in the rock, facing in Gods direction. So Moses face was now protected this time by the rock from Gods Blazing, Mind Blowing, Dazzling Glory. God then stretched forth his hand, placed his hand, palm to Moses face behind the rock and covered Moses eyes; at the same time God looked away from Moses. This is much the same as a search light being turned away from you leaving you in partial darkness. Once God had looked AWAY from Moses God could take his hand away from Moses' eyes. And what a sight that was. Moses could see with his own eyes the back of Gods head, the back of his arms, his back and the back of his legs and heels as God slowly walked away from him. Moses would also have seen everything in front of God lit up in blazing light. Remember this was the being that created the vast universe and he was slowly walking away from Moses.

The next thing we can learn is that when God put his hand on Moses face Moses accepted it, Moses accepted Gods hand as if it was a normal fleshly human hand much like putting his own hand upon his own face. No I'm not saying it was flesh and blood Moses just accepted it as IF it was. His face felt NORMAL with Gods hand on his face. Notice also that God did not give off tremendous heat, like an all consuming furnace; or that of an atomic bomb going off. His face would undoubtedly have the brightness of 10 megaton (speculation) Hiroshima type bombs.

But the temperature surrounding God would have been ambient, or normal heat to Moses because he didn't complain about it. Then basically God (WHILE his face was still away from Moses, said to Moses come back tomorrow morning. Also, God was about the same height as Moses or he would have noted it. Moses was now satisfied. This is the same type of GOD being that we are striving to become like.

#8. The same being as in Exodus 33 but after death and resurrection and restored to greater glory. #12, shows he strengthens us and #13 heals.

CONCLUSIONS so far. The God family consists of two separate and distinct beings united by one spirit; in a similar manner as the Cain family consists of FOUR separate and distinct beings united by the Cain spirit who are also striving to become part of the God family using the spirit of God.

(This is not an exhaustive list)

1. Can Jesus prove his lineage back to David? The Pedigrees in Matthew 1:2-17 (28 names) and Luke 3:23-38 (43 names) disagree, yet both are said to be Joseph’s lineage.

2. Matthew includes 4 women in Joseph’s lineage (Tamar, Rahab, Ruth, and Bathsheba) Luke does not. The Torah counts one’s lineage only through the fathers, Genesis 5, Numbers 1:2, 17-18.

3. Who knew about the Virgin Birth? Only Matthew and Luke seem to know anything about a virgin birth. If something as miraculous as a virgin birth had occurred, it seems odd that Mark and John did not mention it in their effort to convince their readers that Jesus was who they claimed him to be. In contradiction, Paul never mentions a virgin birth (insisting he was born of a woman) even though it would have strengthened his claim if he had. Romans 1:3, Galatians 4:4

4. When was Jesus born? Matthew 2:1 says Jesus was born during the time of Herod. Luke 2:2 says that he was born was born during the first census in Israel, while Quirinius was governor of Syria. This is not possible because Herod died in about 4 B.C., and the census took place in 6 and 7 A.D., about 10 years after Herod’s death.

5. Why can’t the gospel writers agree on the order in which the disciples were selected? In Matthew 4:18-22 and Mark 1:16-20, Peter and Andrew are casting nets into the sea. Jesus calls out to them and they leave their nets and follow him. Jesus then goes on a little further and sees James and John mending their nets with their father. He calls to them and they leave their father and follow him.

In Luke 5:1-11, Jesus asks Peter to take him out in Peter’s boat so Jesus can preach to the multitude. James and John are in another boat. When Jesus finishes preaching, he tells Peter how to catch a great quantity of fish (John 21:3-6 incorporates this story in a post- resurrection appearance). After Peter catches the fish, he and James and John are so impressed that after they bring their boats to shore they leave everything and follow Jesus.

In John 1:35-42, Andrew hears John the Baptist call Jesus the Lamb of Yah. Andrew then stays with Jesus for the remainder of the day and then goes to get his brother Peter and brings him to meet Jesus.

6. The Great Catch - Luke and John disagree when the great catch took place (see above).

7. When did John the Baptist first meet Jesus and when did he first know who Jesus was? John the Baptist’s first encounter with Jesus was while both of them were still in their mothers’ wombs, at which time John, apparently recognizing his “Saviour,” leaped for joy (Luke 1:44). Much later, while John is baptizing (John 1:29, 36) he refers to Jesus as “the Lamb of Yah who takes away the sins of the world”, and “the Son of Yah”. John’s definite knowledge of Jesus as the son of Yah and Saviour of the world is explicitly contradicted by Luke 7:18-23 in which the imprisoned John sends two of his disciples to ask Jesus, “Are you the one who is coming, or do we look for someone else?”

8. When was Jesus baptized? Luke, who claims to be chronological (Luke 1:3), tries to give the impression that John did not baptize Jesus. Luke’s account of Jesus’ baptism occurs after the account of John’s imprisonment (Luke 3:20-21). John 1:25-34 indicates that John baptized Jesus before Jesus’ ministry began.

9. How many men from out of the tombs met Jesus on the shore? Matthew 8:28 says there were two men. In contrast, Mark 5:2 and Luke 8:27 record there only being one possessed man on the Gadarean shore.

10. The Pharisees come to Jesus and ask him for a sign - In Mark 8:12 Jesus says that “no sign shall be given to this generation.” In contradiction to Mark, in Matthew 12:39 Jesus says that only one sign would be given - the sign of Jonah. In contradiction to both Mark and Matthew, the gospel of John speaks of many signs that Jesus did: a. The miracle of turning water into wine at the wedding in Cana is called the beginning (or first) of the signs that Jesus did (John 2:11). b. The healing at Capernaum is the “second sign” (John 4:54). c. Many people were following Jesus “because they were seeing the signs He was performing” (John 6:2).

11. The Fig Tree - After Jesus’ triumphant entry into Jerusalem a sees a fig tree and wants some figs from it. He finds none on it so he curses the tree and it withers and dies (Matthew 21:18-20, Mark 11:12-14, 20-21). Matthew and Mark cannot agree on when the tree withered. In Matthew, the tree withers at once and the disciples comment on this fact (Matthew 21:19-20). In Mark, the tree is not found to be withered until at least the next day (Mark 11:20-21). Since this occurred in the early spring before Passover, it is ridiculous of Jesus to expect figs to be on the tree. Figs are a summer fruit!

12. Should the 12 disciples take staffs? When Jesus summons the twelve disciples to send them out to proclaim the kingdom of YHVH, he lists the things the disciples should not take with them. In Matthew 10:9-10 and Luke 9:3-5, a staff is included in the list of things not to take. In contradiction to Matthew and Luke, Mark 6:8 makes a specific exception - the disciples may take a staff.

13. How many beasts of burden did Jesus ride on during his triumphal entry? Matthew 21:1-7 says that Jesus rode in on two donkeys. Mark 11:1-11, Luke 19:29-44 and John 12:14-15 all agree that he rode on one animal.

14. Who was Jesus? Over 60 times in the gospels, Jesus is referred to as (or he calls himself) the “son of man.” In contradiction, five times in the book of John, Jesus is referred to as (or he calls himself) the Son of Yah. You can be the son of man OR a Son of Yah, it is an either/or situation. Lucifer and Adam are Son’s of Yah. See Genesis 6, Job 1:5-6, Job 2:1, Job 38:4-7, for examples of Son’s of Yah. If you have a belly button, you are a son of man. Hosea 1:10 tells of a time when one day we (the saved of Israel) will be called the sons of Yah.

15. When did the Last Supper take place? In Matthew, Mark and Luke the last supper takes place on the first day of the Passover (Matthew 26:17, Mark 14:12, Luke 22:7). In John’s gospel it takes place a day earlier and Jesus is crucified on the first day of the Passover (John 19:14). [NOTE: I believe John’s account (if any of them are credible) is probably right. Jesus was taken earlier than Abib 14. This conclusion gives time for all the events to take place and allows for an Abib 14 crucifixion. He could have been taken as early as Abib 10, the actual first day of the Passover season and still be in full agreement with John’s account.]

16. Who first reported/delivered the ordinance of the Last Supper to others? In Matthew, Mark and Luke, Jesus institutes the Last Supper during the Passover meal (in John’s gospel the Last Supper is not instituted - Jesus was dead by the time of the Passover meal).

In 1 Corinthians 11:23, Paul writes, “For I received from the Lord that which I also delivered to you, that the Lord Jesus in the night in which He was betrayed took bread...” Here Paul claims that he got the instructions for the Last Supper directly from Jesus. Paul writes these words about twenty years after Jesus’ death, and had the church already been celebrating the Last Supper he certainly would have been aware of it and would have had no need to receive it from Jesus. Some apologists try to play games with the text to make it seem like Paul actually received the instructions from the other apostles, but one thing Paul stresses is that what he teaches he receives from no man (Galatians 1:11-12).

The Judas Iscariot Incident - It is very unclear in the gospels just what Judas Iscariot’s betrayal consisted of, probably because there was absolutely no need for a betrayal. Jesus could have been arrested any number of times without the general populace even knowing about it. It would have been simple to keep tabs on his whereabouts as the city of Jerusalem in those days was not all that large. The religious authorities did not need a betrayal - only the gospel writers needed a betrayal, so that a few more “prophecies” could be fulfilled. The whole episode is pure fiction - and, as might be expected, it is riddled with contradictions. If it is NOT pure fiction, then please explain the following numbers 17 through 21. An honest rendering of the events would not have so many unforced errors.

17. Was Judas’ actions the fulfillment of prophecy? Matthew says that Judas’ payment and death were prophesied by Jeremiah, and then he quotes Zechariah 11:12-13 as proof!

18. Who bought the Field of Blood? In Matthew 27:7 the chief priests buy the field. In Acts 1:18 Judas buys the field.

19. How did Judas die? In Matthew 27:5 Judas hangs himself. In Acts 1:18, [Peter says] Judas bursts open and his insides spill out. According to Paul, neither of the above is true. Paul says Jesus appeared to “the twelve” after his resurrection in (I Corinthians 15:5). Mark 14:20 makes it clear that Judas was one of the twelve.

20. How did the Field of Blood get its name? Matthew says because it was purchased with blood money (Matthew 27:6-8). Acts says because of the bloody mess caused by Judas’ bursting open (Acts 1:18-19). Interesting, both the author of Matthew and the book of Acts created scenarios to match how both respective authors thought the field got its name (Compare #18 for Matthew and #19 for the author of Acts with #20)

21. Who will rule? In Matthew 19:28, Jesus tells the twelve disciples, including Judas, that when he rules from his throne, they will sit on twelve thrones judging the twelve tribes of Israel.

22. Where was Jesus taken immediately after his arrest? Matthew, Mark and Luke say that Jesus was taken directly to the high priest (Matthew 26:57, Mark 14:53 and Luke 22:54). John says that Jesus was taken first to Annas, the father-in-law of the high priest (John 18:13) who, after an indeterminate period of time, sent Jesus to the high priest (John 18:24).

23. When did the priests and scribes gather together to question Jesus? Matthew 26:57 says that on the night Jesus was arrested the priests and scribes were gathered together prior to Jesus being brought to the high priest. Mark 14:53 says the priests and scribes gathered together on the night of Jesus’ arrest after Jesus was brought to the high priest. Luke 22:66 says the priests and scribes assembled the day after Jesus was arrested. John mentions only the high priest - no other priests or scribes play a role in questioning Jesus. Four gospels, four different answers. This is not good.

24. What had Barabbas done? Mark 15:7 and Luke 23:19 say that Barabbas was guilty of insurrection and murder. John 18:40 says that Barabbas was a robber.

25. Who put the robe on Jesus? Matthew 27:28, Mark 15:17 and John 19:2 say that after Pilate had Jesus scourged and turned over to his soldiers to be crucified, the soldiers placed a scarlet or purple robe on Jesus as well as a crown of thorns. Luke 23:11, in contradiction to Matthew, Mark and John, says that the robe was placed on Jesus much earlier by Herod and his soldiers. Luke mentions no crown of thorns.

26. Crucified between two ____? Matthew 27:38 and Mark 15:27 say that Jesus was crucified between two thieves (Luke 23:32 just calls them criminals; John 19:18 simply calls them men). It is a historical fact that the Romans did not crucify robbers; crucifixion was reserved for insurrectionists and rebellious slaves.

27. John and the mother of Jesus near the cross - When Matthew 27:39-49 and John 19:25-27 mention Jesus talking to his mother and John, and others speaking with Jesus or deriding him while on the cross, they run afoul of another historical fact - the Roman soldiers closely guarded the places of execution, and nobody was allowed near (least of all friends and family who might attempt to help the condemned person). In contradiction, Mark 15:40-41 and Luke 27:49 places these people afar off.

28. Who found the empty tomb? According to Matthew 28:1, only “Mary Magdalene and the other Mary found the empty tomb.” According to Mark 16:1, it was “Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James, and Salome.” According to Luke 23:55, 24:1 and 24:10, it was “the women who had come with him out of Galilee.” Among these women were “Mary Magdalene and Joanna and Mary the mother of James.” Luke indicates in verse 24:10 that there were at least two others. According to John 20:1-4, Mary Magdalene went to the tomb alone, saw the stone removed, ran to find Peter then and returned to the tomb with Peter and another disciple. Four gospels, four different answers. This is not good.

29. Who did they find at the tomb? According to Matthew 28:2-4, an angel of the Lord with an appearance like lightning was sitting on the stone that had been rolled away. Also present were the guards that Pilate had contributed. On the way back from the tomb the women meet Jesus (Matthew 28:9). According to Mark 16:5, a young man in a white robe was sitting inside the tomb. According to Luke 24:4, two men in dazzling apparel. It is not clear if the men were inside the tomb or outside of it. According to John 20:4-14, Mary and Peter and the other disciple initially find just an empty tomb. Peter and the other disciple enter the tomb and find only the wrappings. Then Peter and the other disciple leave and Mary looks in the tomb to find two angels in white. After a short conversation with the angels, Mary turns around to find Jesus. Four gospels, four different answers. This is not good.

30. Who did the women tell about the empty tomb? According to Mark 16:8, “they said nothing to anyone.” According to Matthew 28:8, they “ran to report it to His disciples.” According to Luke 24:9, “they reported these things to the eleven and to all the rest.” According to John 20:18, Mary Magdalene announces to the disciples that she has seen the Lord.

31. The Ascension - According to Luke 24:51, Jesus’ ascension took place in Bethany, on the same day as his resurrection. According to Acts 1:9-12, Jesus’ ascension took place at Mount Olivet, forty days after his resurrection. [NOTE: The books of Acts of the Apostles and the gospel of Luke are thought to be written by the SAME PERSON!]

32. The Book of Acts contains three accounts of Paul’s conversion on the road to Damascus. All of three accounts contradict each other regarding what happened to Paul’s fellow travelers. 1. Acts 9:7 says they “stood speechless, hearing the voice...”. 2. Acts 22:9 says they “did not hear the voice...”. 3. Acts 26:14 says “when we had all fallen to the ground...”

Some translations of the Bible (the New International Version and the New American Standard, for example) try to remove the contradiction in Acts 22:9 by translating the phrase quoted above as “did not understand the voice...” However, the Greek word “akouo” is translated 373 times in the New Testament as “hear,” “hears,” “hearing” or “heard” and only in Acts 22:9 is it translated as “understand.” In fact, it is the same word that is translated as “hearing” in Acts 9:7, quoted above. The word “understand” occurs 52 times in the New Testament, but only in Acts 22:9 is it translated from the Greek word “akouo.”

This is an example of Bible translators sacrificing intellectual honesty in an attempt to reconcile conflicting passages in the New Testament.

33. The Second Coming - There are several passages in the gospels where Jesus says he will return in the disciples’ lifetime (Mark 13:30, Matthew 10:23, 16:28, 24:34, Luke 21:32, etc.). The same expectation is held by Paul in his letters. In 1 Corinthians 7:29-31 Paul says that the time is so short that believers should drastically change the way that they live. But Paul had a problem - some believers had died, so what would happen to them when Jesus returned?

Paul’s answer in 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18 shows that Paul expected that at least some of those he was writing to would be alive when Jesus returned - “we who are alive, and remain...” The same passage also indicates that Paul believed that those believers who had died remained “asleep in Jesus” until he returned. However, as the delay in Jesus’ return grew longer, the location of Jesus’ kingdom shifted from earth to heaven and the timeframe was extended indefinitely. [NOTE: Earth is where the kingdom will be set up according to the Law and the Prophets. In no passage are we “going to heaven” in the Old Testament.]

It is quite obvious that Jesus never intended to start any type of church structure since he believed he would return very shortly to rule his kingdom in person. It is also quite obvious that Jesus was wrong about when he was coming back.

34. The differences between Jesus’ and Paul’s Gospels - The gospel that Jesus and his disciples proclaimed to the Jews was in accordance with what the Old Testament predicted about a human Messiah reigning over a restored kingdom of Israel, a kingdom of peace and righteousness. The people of Israel were to repent as personal righteousness was necessary to become a member of the kingdom.

In contrast to Jesus’ gospel was the gospel preached to the Jews and gentiles by the apostle Paul, which Paul refers to as “my gospel” and “the gospel that I preach” to differentiate it from what was being proclaimed by the disciples. In Paul’s gospel the human Jewish Messiah became a divine Saviour of all nations, the restored kingdom of Israel became a heavenly kingdom, and admittance to the kingdom was based on faith rather than personal righteousness.

The two gospels caused great animosity between Paul and the original apostles, an animosity that is played down in the books of Acts and Galatians, but which still shows through in several places. When Jerusalem was destroyed by the Romans in 70 AD the “Jewish Christians” in Jerusalem were scattered or killed, and the opposition to the gospel of Paul was largely eliminated. The gospel of Paul was incorporated into the gospel of Jesus, in many cases supplanting it.

The Catholic Church’s foundation is based upon Paul’s doctrine.

NOTE FROM COMPILER: Again, this is not an exhaustive study. The many places where one gospel records certain events that were not mentioned in another are not the focus of this study (although a few of them are listed here because of their obvious oversight). How many more could be found if we went through the NT with a fine tooth comb? Also not included in this study are the MANY places the NT is contradicted by the Law and the Testimony. I am only pointing out the unforced contradictions between the different NT penmen. If this is the divinely inspired word of YHVH, why are there so many unforced contradictions?

Are these contradictions the work of the penmen themselves or the translators? One thing to keep in mind as you contemplate this question is that the NT comes to us courtesy of the Roman Catholic Church. Rome worshipped Mithra and it seems likely that they created a new birth, life, ministry and death record for their sun god. Every successive era received a new sun god with all the trappings. Two thousand years ago, they christened Jesus the new Mithra. They added his life and times to the OT canon and called it Christianity. Now believers go one step further (toward perdition) calling it the Judeo-Christian faith.

Nothing on these pages resembles the faith of Abraham.
