The Countdown

This was a heading in our local Star paper recently in which a Messianic Jew in substance said that Christ will return on September 11 1999--there would be a "rapture" as he takes them back to heaven and then return again on October 2, 2006 for his reign on earth.

We will send a photo copy upon request. Well, this is another version of the secret rapture.

Letter to our local star paper from us

Dear Sir 27 Jan 95

Assuming that you have accurately reported the speaker in The Star January 1995 page 18.

Jew predicts `Second Coming'. We would like to point out a few things to the speaker.

The first is that when the disciples asked Christ (who also was a Jew) WHEN he would actually return, in all power and glory. He answered Matt 24:36 But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven BUT MY FATHER ONLY.

There have been MANY false prophets that have made such predictions that are now, underground.

Second, the "secret rapture " is old hat and definitely not biblical.

The part of 1 Thessalonians 4:17 --to meet the lord in the air: is merely PROOF that the being in the air is Christ and that the living saints have just been converted from flesh and blood to spirit beings, that can now float. They all then come slowly back to earth. Rev 1:7 and every eye shall see him.

Zechariah 14:4 And HIS FEET shall stand in that day upon the mount of Olives, which is before Jerusalem. Rev 14:1 And I looked, and, lo, a lamb STOOD on the Mount Sion, and with him a hundred forty and four thousand,

Third, there is NO point in Christ coming and picking up a few believers and then going back to heaven. He could do that in heaven from where he was. Simply "spirit" them up. Beam me up Scotty fashion. There is no "heavenly celebrating" on some heavenly planet.

So he won't return in 1999 and then return again in 2006 to stop Armageddon

The first sign that Christ is to return is that THIS GOSPEL of the Kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations THEN shall the end come. Nobody can say that the stars of heaven are going to line up in future in a certain way. Because REV 12:7 says that there was WAR IN HEAVEN. And Matt 24:29 and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of heaven shall be shaken. This is AFTER the tribulation. The nations are GATHERED at a place called Armageddon Rev 16:16 but Christ actually pleads with them in the valley of Jehoshaphat Joel 3:2.

Further points on the Secret Rapture

Apparently it was taught in the Protestant "Church" around 1830. IS Christ going to come back in all power and glory Twice?

Acts 1: 10,11 And while they looked steadfastly toward heaven as he went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel; which also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven.

Now does it say in like manner TWICE? no. only once

COMING AS A THIEF

Matt 24:43,44

But know ye this, that if the good man of the house had known in what WATCH THE THIEF would come, he would have watched and would not have suffered his house to be broken up. Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh.

Luke 12:39,40

And this know, that if the goodman of the house had known what hour THE THIEF WOULD COME, he would have watched, and not have suffered his house to be broken through. Be ye therefore ready also: for the Son of man cometh at an hour when ye think not.

Rev 3:3 Remember therefore how thou has received and heard, and hold fast and repent. If therefore thou shalt not watch, I will come on thee AS A THIEF and thou shalt not know what hour I will come upon thee.

Rev 16:15 Behold I come AS A THIEF.

The Rapturists tell us that this shows the secret nature of the Lords "coming" but does it ?

The only secrecy implied in the texts is the relation to the DAY and HOUR of Christs coming and there is nothing to indicate that the coming itself is secret. In fact we are told:-

1 Thes 4:16,17

For the lord himself shall descend from heaven with a SHOUT, with the voice of the archangel, and with the TRUMP of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:

Nothing quiet about that is there ?

In fact in all instances just quoted the secrecy is in connection with the TIMING not the NATURE of the event

2 Peter 3:10 But the day of the lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a GREAT NOISE, and the elements shall met with FERVENT HEAT, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be BURNED UP .

Not much secrecy about that is there?

Matt 24:37-42

But as the days of Noah were, so also shall be the coming of the Son of man be. For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying, and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the Ark, and knew not until the flood came and took them all away; so shall the coming of the Son of man be. Then shall two be in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other left. Two women shall be grinding at the mill; the one shall be taken the other left. Watch therefore; for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come.

Matt 13:49 So shall it be at the end of the world: the angels shall come forth, and sever the wicked from among the just, and shall cast them into the furnace of fire:

The clear setting and key to the understanding of the verse is "as it was in the days of Noah", and we all know that then it was the wicked who were taken away and the righteous left to inherit a purified earth.

Matt 25:31 When the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the holy angels with him, then shall he sit upon the throne of his glory:

Thess 5:4 But ye, brethren, ARE NOT in darkness, that that day should

over take you as a thief.

2 Thess 1:7,8

When the lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with his mighty angels, in flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God and obey not the gospel of Christ.

2 Thess 2:1-3,8 Now we beseech you, brethren, by the coming of our lord Jesus Christ, and by our gathering together unto him that ye be not soon shaken in mind or be troubled neither by spirit not by word, nor by letter as from us as that the day of Christ is at hand let no man deceive you for that day not come except there come a falling away first and the man of sin be revealed.

John 11:24 I know that he (Lazareth) shall rise again in the resurrection at the last

day.

John 17:15 I pray not that thou shouldest take them OUT of the world but that thou shouldest keep them from the evil.

Jude 14 Behold the lord cometh with ten thousands of his saints.

Many thanks for your letter we are always interested to hear from ex world widers and sorry for the delay. We will send you material bit by bit or as you request. You should have received the "THIS GOSPEL" by now. Enclosed is a statement of beliefs to date.

We were in "the church" for about 20 years mostly under Mr Armstrong of course. We were quite happy in it as you will find out from reading our earlier material. We became a bit suspicious when Mr Armstrong married Ramona, but accepted it. I did become more uncomfortable when I asked a local minister how Passover was worked out and he said that it had already been done at headquarters and I needn't worry about it. Then to cut a long story short when Mr Tkach took over and God became an hypostasis we were even more suspicious. But I think the clincher for me personally was when "they " got rid of the identity of nations doctrine. That followed by not knowing what had become of Mrs Tkach.

A friend of ours introduced us to the Ambassador Report and within months we were out of Worldwide and joined Global. As you will find out we left them as others did. The subject of mind control of course came up and with this why did we believe what we believed anyway. Having just finished a four year chemistry course my mind was in the analytical mode so my wife Sue and the boys and I got down to a deep spiritual analysis. Now as you can appreciate all this was quite traumatic. Because we were never going to leave "the church". As it turned out we did not leave "the church" merely held fast to that which was "good". But what WAS good. So we had to do our own bible study again THIS time free from mind control.

You may quite rightly say, where was the mind control. Well, we believed and accepted the Plain Truth as it was then, the identity of nations, the non evolutionary material pointing our minds back to god the fact that God was using him (Mr A). The coming kingdom, getting baptised and having made lots of new friends in the church and without realising it as many have also found out just getting trained in accepting just whatever came out of the mouth of Mr A. And of course waiting for the time for Mr A to take us to the place of safety. Little did we realise that we had in fact found ourselves IN the Laodicean church. And got out.

Unfortunately the ww under Mr Tkach doesn't know what to believe as they have got tangled up in the "one" God with an hypostasy version of the trinity.

What did we believe before in WW - We kept a Passover 24 hrs before the Jews and a separate night to be much observed.

What do we believe now - They (Passover + Night to be observed) are the one and same night as the Jews observe with bread and wine ritual just before sundown on the 14th Nissan as it goes into the 15th.

2 Herbert W Armstrong-end-time Elijah?

OK this is the tricky one. Luke 1:17 and he shall go before him in the spirit and power of Elias, to turn the heart of the father to the children, and the disobedient to the wisdom of the just; to make ready a people prepared for the lord.

For all his faults (read the Ambassador Reports) Mr Herbert W Armstrong did do this. Remember David sinned and was classed as being a man after Gods own heart; Solomon sinned and God blessed him. The people that have come out of the WW are the ones that wanted to stay with the truth. The scattered brethren, Christ will at some point in time soon reunite them.

3 Do you observe all holy days of Leviticus 23?

tell me when you observe them this or last year.

Yes. The Trechak letter partly answers this and further material will clarify.

4 Do you believe in Herbert Armstrong's "British-Israelism" doctrine? Do you Know the whereabouts of All Israel tribes today?

Yes to the "British-Israelism" doctrine but with qualifications as described in our article Britain/Ephraim the untold story. We know where all the tribes are as described in Yair Davidy's "The Tribes"

5 Centralized government-government from top-down?

Mr Herbert W Armstrong abused this type of system hence not many people actually developed. In the Kingdom the Father will always be in control but will devolve power to the Priests and Kings hence in the end we all become God beings.

6. Understand church era's?

Yes, we are now in the last one; The Laodicean era, which started at Mr A's death. We teach brotherly love as shown in the article Britain/Ephraim. So the Church of God is the remnant of the Philadelphian Era.

Dear Prime Minister 17 FEB 95

We have written to you before under a different hat about the fact that Britain was bankrupt in 1945. Since then we have lived on "borrowed time". Since 1973 we have pumped 325Bn into the bottomless pit called the Common Market.

Just recently we have read the book "Treason at Maastricht-Destruction of the British Constitution" by Rodney Atkinson and Norris McWhirter. This can be got from 8 Blades Court Deodar Road London SW15 2NU. On (page 96) it states that--The entire "European" enterprise since the founding of the European Coal and Steel Community in 1951 (and given an enormous boost by the Maastricht Treaty on European Union) is an exact replica of the Nazis' ideas for Europe which include the destruction (page 92) of the "English system" of free trade.

You are no doubt aware that Britain has gone from being the centre of the biggest Empire the world has ever know to being subservient to an alien power in Brussels. We respectfully ask you if you believe in such a thing, that NOW is the time to pray to the Great God of the heavens to get us out of this mess.
