To prove the latter assertion, we need only call attention to the fact that the image of Daniel is to exist as a WHOLE when the stone falls upon its feet, and it is destroyed as a WHOLE, not simply the Roman Empire, for it is written : "Then was the iron, the clay, the brass, the silver, and the gold, broken in pieces TOGETHER" (Dan. 2: 35). Therefore we may reasonably expect "the beast"-the eighth head-of Rev.17:8 to have power over, and to be supported by, the whole of the territory represented by Daniel's image i.e. over the ancient Babylonian, Medo-Persian, Grecian, and Roman Empires ; even including ancient Assyria [modern day Germany] (as the "king of the North" stands for the power dominating over Syria, Asia Minor, and Babylonia).
Now "the beast" of Rev. 13 actually has three marks upon it which Prove that its dominion is much more extensive than the Roman Empire, for the symbols of the first three beasts of Daniel 7 are portrayed. For we read "And the beast which I saw was like unto a LEOPARD, and his feet were as it were the feet of a BEAR, and his mouth the mouth of a LION." The idea of a Roman beast ALONE is far too small for this united symbol; it shows much greater dominion in its final form.
Again, we must always remember that "the beast" of the Revelation is a most complex symbol, and that it has seven heads, which we (personally) fully believe (see "Alford's Commentary, " vol. 4, p.710) represent the great world Empires that have oppressed Israel and Judah, conjointly and separately, even to the present day Five had fallen in John's time-i.e. Egypt, Assyria, Babylonia, Medo-Persia, and Graecia, while the sixth head was in power at that time-i.e. the Roman Empire. Very diverse views are held about "the beast" described in Rev. 13. Many consider it is the revived Pagan sixth head as the Holy Roman Empire. Others say it is the same power as "an eighth," foretold in Rev. 17, Some think Napoleon was the seventh head ; while others believe the seventh head refers to the Mohammed power, which trod down Jerusalem, since the Roman until 1917 when the Turks and Germans were driven out Jerusalem and Palestine. But, whatever the explanation of the different heads may be, it is evident that the final form of the beast (the secular persecuting power) is in the near future.
Alford says: "This eighth, the last and WORST phase of the beast, is not represented as any one of his heads, but as being the beast himself in actual embodiment." This is the near future union, under the final-Assyrian, (GERMAN) of the ancient world Powers of the image of Daniel,- and they come up as "all nations" against Judah, and will be destroyed at the Second Advent (Zech. 14: 2-4,12-14). A great point to decide is whether the "king of the North" is the same power as the "Gog" of Ezekiel. Almost all students of prophecy consider they are identical. If Ezek.47:2-10 be compared with Zech.14:8-10, it quite clear that the river mentioned in both is after the land is raised up, that it flows to the Persian Gulf, and that the building of the temple of Ezekiel, with the river, must be after the Second Advent.
As this is self-evident, the question follows, Is this Power also the last form of "the beast" who with the "kings of the earth and their armies," are "gathered together to make war against Him that sat upon the horse-i.e. against Christ Himself at the final part of His advent" ? (Rev. 19:19). There is much to be said in favour of this view, for if Ezek. 38 be studied, it will be seen that Gog is to have many people with him (besides Russia), even "Persia, Cush, and Put; Gomer, and all his hordes; the house of Togarmah, in the uttermost parts of the North, and all his hordes; even many people with thee."
In modern English these names are supposed to stand for Persia, while Cush is Ethiopia, the Abyssinia of our times; Put is Libya-i.e. North Africa, west of Egypt. Gomer-Gomer-man is the German man, and Gomer and all his hordes refer, we think, to German and kindred races. Then, by the house of Togarman is meant the Turkoman hordes of Central Asia, which are fast falling under the power of Russia at the present time. If Dan 11 be consulted, it will be seen that the "king of the North" is also to have the Libyans (i.e. North Africa), and the Ethiopians (i.e. Abyssinia) at his steps, and the land of Egypt shall not escape him. These are striking links between the king of the North and Gog. Further "the king of the North" in Daniel always refers to the power dominating in Syria and Asia Minor. Hence we may expect Russia to gain full possession of that part of the world which she is now rapidly acquiring, before she appears as the "Gog" of Ezekiel, or the "Assyrian."
Surely all these hordes with Gog represent the old Assyrian, Babylonian, Persian, Grecian, Roman, and Ottoman Empires? So that under Gog, or Russia-"the Assyrian"-we may yet see one great world power, the image of Daniel in its final form, "the beast," supported by the ten-horned confederacy of the Roman kingdom (Rev. 17:17), coming down on restored Judah, the Jews, and also against the Power protecting Palestine i.e. the British Empire, or the House of Israel-which is clearly referred to in Ezekiel under the emblem of "Sheba and Dedan" (the Arabian Cushite and Aden), and "the merchants of Tarshish" (Great Britain), with all the young lions thereof (the colonies). [See "The Fullness of the Nations," p. 188, on Tarshish.]
To show that Gog is "the Assyrian," or the "king of the North," we may notice that God actually addresses him in these remarkable words: "Art thou he of whom I spake in old time by My servants, the prophets of Israel,[the chief prophets before Ezekiel's- time were Joel 3, Amos, Hosea, Isaiah (30:3I ;31: 4-8), and Jeremiah.] which prophesied in those days for many years that I would bring thee against them?" (Compare Ezek.38:17-23 and Isa.31 : "So shall the Lord of hosts come down to fight upon Mount Zion ... then shall the Assyrian fall with the sword, not of man," v, 4-8.) Again, the overthrow of "Gog" is described in Ezek.39:17, 18, in words very like the overthrow of "the beast" and his host in Rev. 19: 17, 18. Besides, if the coming of "Gog" is "at the time of the end"-coincident with the second advent of Christ-which is certainly the time of the destruction of "the beast," it is difficult to imagine two such universal Powers, existing about the same time, as the Empires symbolised by "the beast" and his armies of Rev. 19, and "Gog" and his hordes of Ezekiel. [We are very greatly indebted to the Rev. F. Aston (the vicar of Bushbury, Wolverhampton), in his lecture on this subject, and also to suggestions from Mr. Douglas Onslow, for the foregoing solution of " Gog " and "the beast." The Rev. F. Aston ended his lecture as follows:
"The Beast is the last great world Empire; which will embody all previous world Gentile Empires into one, so that the image (i.e. all 4 kingdoms of Daniel, Dan 2:40) of Daniel will be found once more COMPLETE (for the idea of the union of all Slavonic races read Peter the Great's will). Then this great Empire will wage war against Israel (Britain and America) and Judah; and this struggle will be one for very existence. It is a deadly struggle between the two Empires of the world i.e. between the pure Gentile and the Israelitish kingdoms, called in Scripture `Jacob's trouble.' `Tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be.' This struggle will continue for the space of three and a half years, when Israel (all of the tribes) is almost overcome; then the Lord descends, and rolls back their armies, destroys Israel's foes, and establishes her, His kingdom upon earth. And this closes the final times of the Gentiles.
"Israel thrown into the crucible of national affliction comes out a people ready and prepared for the Lord to reign over." ]
Whatever in future may be found to be the true solution of these problems, it is very clear that the ENTRY of the "king of the North" "into the glorious Land" "the great tribulations ; the second advent of Christ and the destruction of "the beast, " are the terminating incidents in this Dispensation.
Thoughts similar to these occupy the minds of all students of prophecy, and their attention is not diverted thereby from the Church's hope. Is it then reasonable to object that the more defined knowledge obtained by the discovery of the House of Israel could possibly produce an opposite effect?
(For a complete dissertation of the Great Tribulation write for our free
article on the subject) The last great tribulation is referred to in Dan. 12 "At
that time (see last verses of chapter 11, concerning the "king of the North")
shall Michael stand up, the great prince which standeth for the children of thy
people ; and there shall be a time of trouble, such as never was since there was
a nation, even to that same time ; and at that time thy people shall be
delivered....... Many of them that sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, "
Ezekiel also appears to paint this tribulation very plainly in chapters 38
and 39. We believe it will indeed be a time of real and terrible trouble to the
British Empire,(the last vestiges of) the last great trial of Israel's faith ;
but we are told, "Jacob shall be saved out of it" (see Isa. 26:20, 21; Jer.30:7)
not from being in it !
Jeremiah refers to "Jacob's trouble" in the thirtieth chapter : "For, lo, the
days come that I will turn again the captivity of My people Israel and Judah,
saith the Lord, and I will cause them to RETURN TO THE LAND THAT I GAVE TO FATHERS, and they shall possess it ; and these are the words that the Lord spake
concerning Israel and concerning Judah....... Alas ! for that day
is great, so that none is like it ; it is even the time of Jacob's trouble;
[Kimchi interprets this passage as referring to the time of the invasion of Gog-
"the Assyrian." but he shall be saved out of it ;..... and they shall serve the
Lord their God. and David their king, whom I will raise up unto them" (compare
Ezek. 37:24).
Hence, the great tribulation is clearly to be on both the Houses of
Israel and Judah, and is referred to in Micah 5, 6, where the Assyrian comes
into the Land. But the great tribulation on Israel must not be confounded with
the days of vengeance on the unbelieving world, referred to in 2 Thess. 1: 8,
and with the destruction of "the Assyrian" by the advent of our Lord. Joel
refers in third chapter to this overthrow ; "Multitudes, multitudes in the
valley of decision ! " and in Rev. 16: 16, "And they gathered them together into
the place which is called in Hebrew Har-Magedon. " (See also Rev. 19:17-21).
Zechariah also foretold that there should be great trouble at the close of
this dispensation, and he specially speaks of the Jews in the last siege of
Jerusalem : "I make Jerusalem a cup of reeling (Zechariah 12:2 trembling)
unto all the people round about, and upon Judah also shall it be in the siege
against Jerusalem. [Compare Isaiah 29:3,5,7 and 31: 4, 5, 7, 8; 66: 15-20;
followed by the Millennial reign of Christ (32: 1)] ... And all the nations of
the earth shall be gathered together against it. In that day, said the Lord, I
will open Mine eyes upon the House of Judah (Notice it is the House of Judah,
not the House of Ephraim Israel, that is specially mentioned here) . . . "The
Lord also shall save the tents of Judah first........... And I will pour upon
the House of David and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the spirit of grace
and of supplication and they shall look unto Me whom they have
pierced........ In that day there shall be a fountain opened to the House of
David" (compare I Kings 12:19, 20).
This is the grafting in of Judah again, into the main block of the Tribes of
Israel, and it is to be after the time when God gathers "all nations against
Jerusalem to battle............ Then shall the Lord go forth, and fight against
those nations, as when He fought in the day of battle, and His feet shall stand
in that day upon the Mount of Olives." . . "And the Lord, my God shall come, and
all the holy ones with Thee ;.... and the Lord shall be King over all the earth"
(Zech. 12, 13, 14; Ezek. 38, 39).
At the close of this dispensation Christ will be accepted by the Jews as
their Messiah (Ezek. 39:22-29), and they will "be grafted into their own
(Hebrew) olive-tree, " which will then be Christian-the promised "Fullness of
the Gentiles"-i.e., Ephraim-Israel-having first come in (Rom. 9:24, 25 ; Zech.
10:9).
The Jews are to be replaced in Palestine by the "ships of Tarshish"
(Isa.60:9) but this glorious and final return of both the Houses-then to be
united for ever-is to be after the overthrow of Gog, when Isa. 66:20 will
be fulfilled "And they shall bring all your brethren out of all nations for an
offering unto the Lord." This is the time when "He shall set up an ensign for
the nations, and shall assemble the outcasts of Israel and the dispersed of
Judah" (Isa. ll: 12-16). Again, this joyful return is referred to in Isa. 18: 7,
as "a present brought unto the Lord of Hosts' (Zeph. 3:10 ; Isa.60:8, 9); and
also in Ezek. 39:27. This, we believe, is the return spoken of in Hos. 1: 11
"And the children of Judah and the children of Israel shall be gathered
together, for great shall be the day of Jezreel. " [JEZREEL. "`God will sow,'
i.e., make to grow ... the people whom `God would sow"' (Speaker's
Commentary on this passage). Hence Jezreel refers to the Ten-tribed House
(see Hos. 1:4).
Then comes the time when the Hebrews are truly to know God: "So the House of
Israel shall know that am the Lord their God, from that day and forward"
(Ezek.38:23; 39:22, 28, 29). There are still a number of events foretold, to
happen during the closing period of this dispensation; and of necessity they
must take a little time in their accomplishment. The exact position of Christ's
coming to raise the dead, and translate those that are His, is still a mystery.
That time will hardly be revealed till near the midnight cry, when it will be
too late for the foolish virgins (the Laodicians), who have no oil (spiritual
knowledge) in their vessels, to buy the same before the "Parousia, " or
the coming of the Bridegroom.
Conclusion
We must look for the WHOLE IMAGE of Daniel 2
With modern computer technology it would not take much effort to make an
image APPEAR to talk.
True Israel returns to the middle east after the great tribulation and NOT before. The people in the middle east now are imposters or Rothschild's pawns
We are asking the question in light of the fact that Ralph Woodrow has
written his book "Woodrow verses Woodrow" where he shifts from his original 72
hours version to something different. In fact having now read the book as you
can gather from the title his conclusion is inconclusive.
In public advertising and in the book he points out that there is only one
verse that refers to "Three days and nights" while there are Twenty verses just
inferring "the third day" type of thing, page 4.
Basically Mr Woodrow is saying that in light of TOTAL testimony of scripture,
the 72 hours version does not stand up to close biblical examination. This is
because there is only one verse using three days and nights while there is
twenty that refers to "the third day"
SO Did Christ lie when he said that the son of man would be three days
and three nights in the heart of the earth?
The first instance where the term three days and three nights is used is in
Jonah 1: 17 Now the Lord had prepared a great fish to swallow up Jonah. And
Jonah was in the belly of the fish three days and three nights.
As Jonah states in 2:6 I that he went down to the bottoms of the mountains;
The earth with her bars was about me for ever: one can assume it was at a
minimum 72 hours as it would take a fish some time to go to the bottom of the
ocean and back up again.
The second instance where the term three days and three nights is used is in
Matt 12:40 at the beginning where Christ is actually referring to Jonah--for
as Jonah was three days and three nights in the whales belly.
Then finally the third instance where the term three days and three nights is
used is in Matt 12:40 at the end where Christ says --- SO SHALL the Son
of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.
So THREE times an individual is IN something or out of circulation. And as
Christ makes the statement in John 11:9 `Are there not twelve hours in the day?'
any verses that come after these three main scriptures referring to the third
day --- all 22 (not 20 Ralph) of them, we would have thought meant the third 12
hour period making 72 hours in all.
Matt 16:21 and be raised again the third day
17:23 the third day he shall be raised again
20:19 and third day he shall rise again
26:61 and to build it in three days
27:40 and build it in three days
27:63 After three days I will rise again
27:64 made sure until the third day
Mark 8:31 after three days rise again
9:31 he shall rise the third day
10:34 and the third day he shall rise again
14:58 with three days
15:29 and buildest it in three days
Lk 9:22 and he raised the third day
13:32 the third day I shall be perfected
18:33 and the third day he shall rise again
24:7 and the third day rise again
24:21 it is the third day since (the third day has come and gone)
24:46 and to rise from the dead the third day
John 2:19 In three days I will raise it up
2:20 in three days
Acts 10:40 Him God raised up the third day
I Cor 15:4 he rose again the third day
Now the First day of the week meaning Sunday is clearly identified in Luke
24:1 and Matt 28:1
In Matt 28:1 it says --In the END of the Sabbath , as it began to dawn
towards the first day of the week --- the angel said "he is risen , as he said.
verse 6.
In Luke 24:1 Now upon the first day of the week, very early in the
morning--the angel said "why seek ye the living among the dead"? and verse 7 and
the third day rise again.
So the Sabbath day is the third day. This makes Thursday Day one. Wednesday
was the day Christ was crucified; this being the 14 Nisan or the Preparation day
or day Zero.
NOW WE WILL REPEAT what we said at the beginning. Two letters with big
meaning.
IN not out, but IN. IN the belly of the fish. IN the heart of the earth. So
IN. The day Christ was crucified he was OUT hanging on the cross.
Matt 27:57 When the even was come, there came a rich man of Arimathea, named
Joseph who--took verse 59, the body and laid it in his own new tomb and rolled a
great stone. Christ's body had to be in the tomb before sunset. Deut 21:23
Matt 27:66 now the next day, that followed the day of the preparation
(14th Nissan) this was the Passover day, the High Day; the Chief priest and
Pharisees came together unto Pilate, saying, Sir, we remember that that deceiver
said while he was yet alive, After three days I will rise again. Command
therefore that the sepulchre be made sure until the third day, lest his
disciples come by night, and steal him away, and say unto the people, He is
risen from the dead so the last error shall be worse that the first.
So Pilate commanded the sepulchre to be made sure until the third day.
If the day the discussion took place was the second day then Pilate would have
said until tomorrow
This command and the discussion took place the day that FOLLOWED the
preparation. Because Luke 24:53 highlights that --And he took is down, and
wrapped it in linen, and laid it in a sepulchre that was hewn in stone, wherein
never a man before was laid. And that day was the preparation. The day Christ
was killed.
Most Christians accept that Christ was killed on the afternoon of the 14
Nissan the day before the Passover DAY. The time when the lambs were killed in
old Israelite times. Pilate commanded the tomb to be sealed on the Passover day.
Now If we were intelligent Roman soldiers we would have gone to the tomb,
checked our charge, that is make sure Christ's body was actually there and THEN
sealed the tomb to make doubly sure. At the end of the first day, at the end of
Nissan 15, at the end of Thursday, Christ was still in the tomb
otherwise those 22 scriptures would say "at the end of the first day I will rise
again" and it doesn't.
All day Friday, the second (weekly) preparation day Christ was still in the
tomb and as Friday dawned toward the Sabbath he was still there. Friday being
the second day he was still in the tomb otherwise at the end of Friday, at the
end of the second day the 22 scriptures would say "after two days I will rise
again" and it doesn't.
So Christ spent the third day, a weekly Sabbath, a day of rest, in the tomb.
Then at the end of the third day The Heavenly Father raised him from the dead.
Matt 28: 1 In the end of the Sabbath, as it began to dawn toward the first
day of the week--
the angel said verse 6 He is not here for he is RISEN AS HE SAID.
Then on SUNDAY as two that knew Christ travelled to Emmaus Luke 24:13 our
creatore showed his awsome brilliance to us. The two desciples after a period of
time of discussion were met by a stranger who asked about their deep discussion.
They were surprised at his question thinking that he would have know what had
happened in the last three days and how they thought that Christ whome they
thought they knew was going to restore Israel (the 12 tribes) to its true and
rightful glory out from under the Roman rule. Besides they said it is the third
day since these things and basically nothing had happened other than reports of
angelic appearances. In other words they were walking in the 4th day.
The stranger then gave them a history lesson and they still didn't cotton on.
Then at sunset on Sunday as it began to dawn towards Monday--just like the
Passover meal about 6 o'clock the stranger sat down and went through the routine
he had done on the night before he died. Suddenly the penny dropped and they
knew who he was and HE VANISHED OUT OF THEIR SIGHT.
They immediatly raced back to Jerusalem (about 8 miles) in a state of shock.
Remember this was the first time that Christ had appeared and disappeared in
front of theri very eyes. The two then met the other eleven verse 33 at about 11
o'clock at night our time. Christ again appeared in the crowd in physical form
and ate fish and honey to show he was not a ghost.

Now in the latter part of the 1900's documented reports are telling of
Christians being persecuted, enslaved and martyred.
I recently talked with a lady who went to Africa. When she returned she told
me that while she was there some Africans had been made into slaves.
I listened to and read reports of Christians who would not convert to
becoming Muslim were sold into slavery.
The African country of Sudan was declared an Islamic state in 1989. It is
reported that sense then over a million Christian homes have been destroyed by
the Muslim government. Sudanese Christians give their testimonies of Arab
Muslims who rape, chain, and beat African men, women, and children. Escaped
slaves tell of sexually abused women and people whose bodies have been
mutilated.
Nuba people and Dinka tribes people and other tribes and people of other
religions tell of their persecutions by Muslim Arabs because they are not
Muslims.
Christians around the world should be informed about the persecution of other
Christians. It is a criminal act to be a Christian to many Muslims in the Sudan.
So the reports keep coming in of Christians who will not become Muslims are sold
into slavery.
It is heartbreaking to hear of little African children tell their own stories
of how they were chained and whipped because they did not want to learn the
Koran. Iser and Ali are two small boys who told of there being chained and
whipped in the Sudan because of their religious beliefs.
A Mr. Philip Ghabbough tells his own story of his imprisonment. He says that
Sudan's leaders are trying to drive Christianity out of their country. Mr.
Ghabbough is a member of the Nuba people in the Sudan. He is a Christian
minister. Mr. Ghabbough told of how he was taken to an executioner who tried to
intimidate him to deny Christ and confess Islam. Ghabbough refused to deny
Christ. He was badly beaten. He told of how he was taken to a place of torture.
Mr. Philip Ghabbough told of how he was threatened and beaten. He told of the
screams and blood in the dark cells of where he was himself a prisoner.
The Sudan is not the only place where Christians are persecuted. A Christian
child was sentenced to death because of the blasphemy law in Pakistan.
International pressure saved the child's life. Reports are that there were
others who were not so lucky.
In China a Mr. Lai and others were beaten by some security in front of the
congregation. Then the congregation was forced to beat the preachers. Members of
the congregation were told to beat these preachers or they themselves would be
beaten. The report came in that Mr. Lai died from the injuries that he received
in this beating,
Continued reports of Christians being persecuted in Cuba, China, Pakistan,
Sudan and other parts of this world. Although these documented reports continue
to come in why is this knowledge so ignored by the rest of the world.
Slavery has returned to Africa. People who escape tell of people sold into
slavery. People are forced to be concubines, confined in camps, field workers
and house servants. Many escaped salves testify to this truth that the Sudan's
Islamic rulers deny. Reports are constantly coming in about the return of
shameful slavery to Africa.
There is a Civil War taking place in the Sudan. The Sudan Government says
that they have prisoners of war, and that they don't have a slave trade going on
there. There are men who say that they escaped say that they were used as blood
banks, chained and beaten.
This knowledge of a hidden slave trade in Africa should be exposed.
