History of the Church of God in Scotland

This is the story of Margaret McCormack, now nearly 80 years of age and living in Melbourne, Australia. Margaret (known to all as Meg) was born on January 25, 1916, to Marion Mckay at Coylton Woodside in the shire (county) of Ayrshire, Scotland. Her father, John McKay, died during World War 1, killed in action on the Western front in 1915. Marion McKay then went to live with her father, Willie Young, on the island of Arran.

Arran, along with the islands of Milport and Rothesay, are part of the Brute Shire at the mouth of the Clyde River and at that time, belonged to the Duke of Montrose. Meg's grandfather, Willie Young. was a farmer and lived at Lamlash. He was a Sabbath-keeper who belonged to the Church of God. He raised Margaret and she attended the Church of God which held services at Whiting Bay, about three miles from Lamlash. Services were held on Friday evenings after sunset, Saturday mornings, and again in the afternoon. Members did not attend all three, but chose the time that suited them best.

The Church was simply known as the Church of God, with members on all three islands.

Also on the island were members of other churches. All business was closed on the Sabbath. There was one full-time minister, Ebenezar Muchie, and three elders who were not employed by the Church. One was John McDonald. Meg cannot remember the names of the others. The building where the congregation of about 200 met, was made of sandstone and built with donated labour on a farm. Services consisted of songs, a sermon expounding the scriptures, and lasted about one-and-a-half hours.

The Passover was kept, and the Night to be Remembered was kept in individual homes. Unleavened Bread was observed and homes were unleavened before Passover. Pentecost, Trumpets, Atonement (also known as the Fast Day), Tabernacles and the Last Great Day were all observed. However, no one travelled off the island to keep the Feast. Baptism was by immersion, unclean food were not eaten; although some pigs were raised and sold to nonmembers. The only part of the pig used was fat to grease the boots. There was a saying that "that was all a pig was good for."

It was clearly understood that man's destiny was to be born into the family of God at the resurrection, if one remained faithful, where one would be a son of God. The Church knew that Britain was Ephraim, the U.S.A. - Manasseh, and parts of France - Reuben, Holland - Zebulun, Belgium - Asher, Sweden - Naphtali, and they believed Scotland to be Simeon.

They also understood that Germany descended from Assyria. While they knew of other Churches of God in the Ukraine, Scandinavia, Chile, and China, they were unable to establish contact with them, as they wished to remain isolated.

The Church knew of Jeremiah coming to Ireland with two of Hezekiah's daughters, a harp of special significance, and King David's coronation stone. At Jeremiah's time there was a land bridge connecting Ireland to Scotland called the Giant's Causeway. Jeremiah walked over to Scotland and taught the people there. This was dismissed as myth by people outside the Church.

A form of tithing was practised, a member paid according to his resources and what he considered fair. There was no hard and fast rule. The money was put into a large wooden box in the Church building on the Sabbath. The income was used to pay Church expenses and to help the poor and those in need. There was no "Social Security" in those days. No money meant no food or medical treatment. The Church members kept to themselves, considering the people on the mainland as deceived and "in the world."

It was in this environment that Meg grew up, accepting everything she was taught as the truth. In 1934 at the age of eighteen she married Hugh McKenzie. Hugh owned Auchenrowen farm, about a mile from the Church at Whiting Bay. His whole family were Church members. Hugh and Meg had six children: Hugh, Marion, Jack, Ann (1941), Mary (1946), and Avril (1948). It was a unhappy marriage, as Hugh was an alcoholic. Meg was baptized in 1936 at the age of twenty.

In 1949 Meg inherited 6,000 pounds from a relative and left Hugh, moving to Loch Gilphead

Where there was a Church of God with about sixty members. She met a member there, Duncan Turner, whose brother had migrated to Australia. Some years later, Meg contacted

the brother where he was living at Box Hill, a suburb of Melbourne. His name was Jimmy Turner. At the time, he was still keeping the Sabbath on his own, as he found no Church of God to attend.

About 1951, Meg divorced her husband, who subsequently died around 1953. She met Alexander Whemond McCormack, then working for British Electricity after serving for twelve years in the Royal Navy, and surviving fourteen ships sunk beneath him during World War 11, an astounding story in itself! She had known Alex for years and they were married, having one son, whom they named after their father. Alex (senior) then took a job in forestry preservation so he could be at home. In 1959 they migrated to Australia, arriving in Fremantle on the 26th of August of that year.

Alex was then employed by the Australian Broadcasting Commission (ABC) and his job caused them to move to Shepparton, a town in Northeast Victoria. Alex was a Presbyterian, and Meg accompanied him to church on Friday nights for a while, but he was not very happy about doing so. He left the Presbyterian church after being told by the minister not to take any notice of the Bible, except for the Gospels. Meg then just kept the Sabbath at home, until she heard Garner Ted Armstrong on the Radio Church of God.

They wrote for all the literature offered and started to tithe, and commenced the Bible Correspondence Course. Around 1967 they were visited by Bob Fahey, a minister in the Church, and began attending the Worldwide Church of God at Ballarat, Victoria. In 1975, Alex was baptized for the first time and Meg rebaptized by Bruce Tyler.

As time went on, both of them became increasingly unhappy about the constant appeals for money and the hierarchal form of government; in particular Herbert Armstrong's claim to be God's chosen Apostle. Meg's two youngest daughters were also attending Worldwide.

After the death of H W Armstrong, the Church started massive doctrinal changes. By around 1990, both Meg and Alex had lost interest and confidence in the WCG and stopped attending. In January of 1992, Alex died, which left Meg greatly distressed as it had been a very happy marriage.

Meg and her friend Lily Morgan started to look around for a Church where they could still find the Truth of God. Both attended an offshoot of the WWCG for a short time, Meg only going twice. Then hearing of the CBC of God, they wrote for, and received, Care Packages, which they studied carefully. Meg attended the CBCG Feast of Tabernacles in 1994, her first for five years. Sadly, Mrs Lily Morgan's poor health prevented her from attending, and she died only a few days after then Feast, aged 83.

Here were two elderly widows, with little or no money, in bad health, who would not go along with the false teachings flooding into their Church. Rather than accept them, they chose to risk losing all their friends of many years, and "go it alone." This must surely be a fine example for those in the WCG who are willing to sit back and go along with false doctrines which are now being preached. I felt strongly that this story should be told. - John Morgan, January 26, 1995

Additional Notes

There has been a great deal of interest in the story of Meg McCormack and her life in the Church in Scotland. Here are answers to questions some have asked.

Q. Does the Church on the islands still exist?

A. Meg has never returned since she left in 1949, and has lost contact with the people there.

She was told that the Church building at Whiting Bay had been turned into a museum. About twenty years ago her daughter, Marion, did return only to find that the Church had been demolished, and there seemed to be no members left. It would also appear that there was no Church (which was a wooden building) left at Loch Gilphead, where Meg moved after leaving Arran.

Some time in 1994, Meg cut part of an article out of the Scottish Daily Record. It was about a family of 22 children on the Isle of Skye, 300 [150?] miles North of Arran. Unfortunately, she did not keep the whole article or record the date. However, what it said is interesting.

It reads: The family has been raised in a croft [small farmhouse] and when all the bedrooms were full, the children slept in caravans in the garden. Their Wee Free upbringing meant, among other things, no work or play on the Sabbath. The Church of God was also known as the Wee Free Church. ''Wee,'' because it was small, and ''Free'' from John 8:32, '' And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.'' So it is possible that there are some members in Scotland today.

The problem was that the Churches kept to themselves. Meg had never heard of a Church on Skye, but she never knew there was a church at Loch Gilphead until she left Arran.

While living at Loch Gilphead, a Sabbath-keeper from the village of Machair Scarnish on island of Tiree, in the shire of Argyle, came to stay with Meg. He had travelled to Oban for medical treatment and wanted to be with Church of God people. His name was Neil McNeill, and has since died, but Meg believes his wife, Cathie McNeill is still living at Machair Scarnish.

Q. Was the Church persecuted?

A. Early this century, Arran was very isolated and the Church members made up a large part of the population, so they had things pretty much their own way. In the 1930s the Scottish and English education departments were amalgamated. The schools were then forced to open on Holy Days(with the exception of Atonement) and the children forced to attend, or risk being taken away from their parents.

Q. How long had the Church been on the island?

A. Church tradition has it that Jeremiah came over from Ireland and instructed the Scottish people. They believe that Jeremiah is buried in Ireland. As far as Christianity is concerned,Meg's father-in-law, Hugh McKenzie, Sr., said his family had been in the Church of God for many centuries. As far back as records, written or oral, go. Hugh McKenzie's family Bible had a list going back many generations.

Q. On what day did they keep Pentecost?

A. Meg cannot remember if it was Sunday or a Monday. She just grew up in the Church and accepted everything she was taught.

Q. Did they use the Hebrew Calendar?

A. Again, Meg has no idea. She just followed the teaching of the Church.

Q. How were the people baptized?

A. By complete immersion after counsel with a minister. People were around twenty years of age, or older, at baptism.

Q. Was foot washing done at the Passover?

A. Yes, foot washing was done at the Passover.

Q. As Meg's father was killed in WW 1, did Church members take part in war?

A. Her father, John McKay, was not a member. He was a Presbyterian from Broka in the Scottish Highlands. As far as Meg can remember, no one joined the military forces -the farmers were exempted from military service in WW2, and others joined the land army.

Q. Did they have contact with the Church of God, Seventh Day in the United States?

A. No. As already mentioned, they kept to themselves. They did know of Churches of God in Europe, China, and South America, but were unable to establish contact with them.

Some of the Young Family, including Meg's uncles, migrated to Massachusetts in the U.S.A. During WW2, three U.S soldiers came to Arran to see where their family had come from, but their was no further contact after that.

Q. What was their belief in healing?

A. Meg said she was never sick. As far as she knows, one went to the doctor and called for the minister who prayed over the sick person. She is not sure if the minister anointed or not.

Q. Did members use alcohol, or not?

A. Some did, mostly in moderation.

Q. What type of Church government was there?

A. There was one full-time minister, on a very small salary, who lived in a Church house.

Three other ministers were unpaid, and there was a council of 24 elders. The council would meet to discuss Church matters, but under no circumstances could they change Church doctrines There was no ''hierarchy.''

Q. What happened to Meg's children?

A. All of her children came to Australia with her, and are living in the state of Victoria.

Her two youngest daughters attended WCG with her, but no longer go because of all the changes.

Q. Does the WCG know about the Scottish Church?

A. When Meg started attending WCG, she would tell people about it. Some did not believe it, and some would say, ''That was the Sardis era, and they were spiritually dead.'' After that reaction, Meg said very little. Alex McCormack did write to Herbert Armstrong telling him about the Church, but did not receive a reply.

Q. What did they believe about the fate of the wicked?

A. They knew of the First Resurrection at the return of Christ, and of the Second Resurrection for those who never knew the Truth.

A FALSE PASSOVER

Matthew 24:4 And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you. For many shall come in my name saying, I am Christ; and shall DECEIVE MANY.

We were asked to read a book on the Passover written by an ex minister of the WWCOG and to see "what we thought." this sort of thing is happening quite frequently with religious material given to us from Scientists at work and from groups around the world.

"The Christian Passover"

The Author of this book has produced over 300 pages to "prove" beyond any shadow of doubt that the Passover is 14th Abib; by this he means, from his conclusions (pages 280 and 281) that the 14th Day is the correct day and that the 15th Day is in error. The Author boasts a BA in Theology and was ordained a minister of Jesus Christ and pastored Churches of God. On page x he states that --While the authors knowledge of Hebrew iis not as extensive as his knowledge of New Testament Greek, it is sufficient for the doctrinal and exegetical studies presented in the book.

The question is, does "The Christian Passover", prove the Passover is on the 14th DAY?

When authors start to use Hebrew to prove a doctrine we become very suspicious. We believe that the Bible (6.1 Billion bibles has been produced between 1815 and 1992) as it stands is sufficient for even a child to know God. Even a potato picker or a street sweeper whose value in life is very high, understands when Evening has come. Everyone is familiar with the sun, daytime and when night is about to come.

If we have any doubt about any meaning of Hebrew we would automatically consult with the Jewish Rabbis in London, it is of course their "native" language which the author seems to forget and we are sure they understand Greek. As you will find out, this was completely unnecessary.

We are highlighting (16) points/errors and feel that what the Author is in reality suffering from is, what could be classed as `Post Armstrong Mind Control'. For anyone to use over 300 pages to "prove" one day shows that he doesn't really understand the subject at all. As for being a scholar (one with a profound knowledge of the subject) well, in fact the book should carry a Spiritual Health Warning because the author gets himself so tangled up; but read on.

Authors comment; Page viii middle para (1) On the night of His last Passover, Jesus instituted the new covenant, beginning with the foot washing ceremony.......

OUR comment; So (1) the author states that foot washing was at the beginning of the service and that on page 204, 3rd para up; John 13:2, which reads: "And supper being ended..." doesn't really mean that but it means (at bottom of page) "As supper was beginning...". So ENDING, really means beginning. The author then goes on to page 205 para 2 saying that ---He RISES from supper and lays aside his garments---to wash the disciples feet. Then on page 228 he puts foot washing at the beginning again !!! Oh dear.

Write for The Countdown Magazine No 4 (A Church of God publication) this makes it clear that Christ washed the disciples feet AFTER supper, as many groups around the world are realising. It is like being baptised, first one accepts Christ as taking on our sins then, we are then washed in water to be spiritually clean.

Authors comment; On page 2 (2) He says `that, because of the Biblical injunction that days are reckoned from sunset to sunset (Today, days are reckoned from midnight to midnight, as did the ancient Romans).' Which he repeats on page 26. And then quite firmly says` THERE IS NO DISPUTE ABOUT THE BIBLICAL FACT.'

OUR comment; Oh dear. (2) Midnight to midnight is not one day. One minute past midnight to the following midnight is one 24 hour period. OK we are splitting hairs or are we? as for sunset to sunset!!! Tut tut. Genesis points out that a day starts with the morning and ends with the evening; Genesis 1:5 last part. A period of 12 hrs of LIGHT. This is followed by 12 hrs of DARK.

Authors comment; (3) Page 16 third paragraph down. The Feast of Unleavened Bread immediately follows the Passover and continues for seven days.

OUR comment; No. (3)-- Exodus 12:8 shows that the Passover lamb was eaten with unleavened bread in the early part of that night of the 15th so the Feast of Unleavened Bread started with and was PART OF THE PASSOVER.

Authors comment; (4) At bottom of page 16 he highlights EIGHT days from Josephus.

OUR comment; (4) We haven't read Josephus but (seven times in the bible) Exodus 12:15; and 19, 13:6 and 7; 23:15; Deut 16:4, and Leviticus 23:6; highlights SEVEN DAYS. Now in verse 8 where it states that they were to keep SIX days which the author makes such a ding dong about on pages 153/154. At the tail end of verse 7, GOD says and thou shall turn in the morning and go into thy tents (to sleep, after they had been out all night?). In other words they were IN the first ceremonial day of unleavened bread as they went to bed in the morning. God was reminding them that there were SIX more days to go by simple mathematical deduction. Couldn't be easier, we prefer to believe GODS word.

Authors comment: Then on page 24 bottom para, Rabbi Rashi has stated that ben ha arbayim "between the two evenings," means from noon, or no later that 1 PM the "evening" of day, until sunset, the "evening" of night. His definition and interpretation place ben ha arbayim of the 14th at the time from one hour after noon until sunset of the 14th. Sunset, then ends the 14th and begins the 15th. According to this interpretation, the Passover were eaten on the night of the 15th, after sunset of the 14th. this is the tradition Jewish explanation of this term.

Point (5) page 25-2nd para down, This interpretation and explanation as stated by Rabbi Rashi conflicts with the clear commands of God. Exodus 12:8 states that the entire Passover was to be kept on the 14th, showing that the lambs were to be eaten on the night of the 14th- not on the night of the 15th.

OUR comment; (5) We do not know whether the author has quoted Rabbi Rashi correctly, it doesn't really matter because the underlined part is one of the "Authors " key bits. If you accept this then he has "got" you. Unfortunately the underlined bit is false. By page 24 one feels that he has "something" to offer, but its false. Lets examine Ex 12:8. Normally 15 follows 14. Correct? also 14 follows 13, OK? So it is NOT true to state that, the ENTIRE Passover was to be kept on the 14th. THIS IS A FALSE BIBLICAL STATEMENT.

NO WHERE IN THE BIBLE DOES IT STATE THAT THERE IS A 12HR PASSOVER CEREMONY ON THE 14TH.

On the 13th the Lamb was still alive. On the 14th at mid-day the lamb was still alive.

OUR comment to recap; (5) Exodus12:8 states-And they shall eat the flesh in that night, roast with fire, and unleavened bread; and with bitter herbs they shall eat it.

Then (6) On page 42 the author does not really understand that Even is the end of the day while sunset (when the sun has set) a new day has begun, although he does admit on page 36 that The Jews fully understand that, even to this day, that as soon as the sun has set below the horizon, a new day has begun.

So (6) once again he has his beginnings and ending mixed up-but he agrees with the Jews.

The subject of twilight comes up on page 45 but really is an irrelevance as mid month there is a full moon, which the author agrees with, but then goes on to contradict himself with this on page 81 where he says the children of Israel would have been forced to travel in DARKNESS. (7)

Author states; Page 50: Remember (8) what we have learned about the Scripture definition of a day in Leviticus 23:32 the Day of Atonement, the tenth day of the month, is defined as beginning "in the ninth day of the month at even". Applying this principle to the Passover, the fourteenth day of the first month would be define as beginning"in the thirteenth day of the month at even" Keeping the lambs "until the fourteenth" meant keeping them through the thirteenth day of the month until evening, or sunset, which ended the thirteenth and began the fourteenth. Killing the lambs "AT DUSK," or ben ha arbayim- immediately after sunset--meant killing the lambs IMMEDIATELY AFTER THE THIRTEENTH DAY OF THE MONTH AT EVEN. That is the true, Scriptural definition of Gods command for slaying the lambs.

(8) The answer for Element#1) The Passover lambs were killed at the beginning of the fourteenth day of the first month.

OUR comment; (8) Once again he has the beginning and ending mixed up. Now we can imagine a scene where a psychiatric patient is in hospital and has been asked to the Doctors office for an assessment. The Doctor looks out the window and sees the sun going down and as the sun finally sets, the doctor turns to the patient and says to him "What do you see?" the patient replies "Its tomorrow, a new day has begun". The doctors reply would almost certainly be "Hmmm, I think we need to stay a little bit longer, don't we"

In fact the author conveniently leaves out the bit "from even unto even" so Leviticus 23:32-- the Day of Atonement, the tenth day of the month, "in the ninth day of the month at even, from even unto even", shall ye celebrate your Sabbath. Is a CLEAR CUT case of a Sabbath (atonement) being between the two evenings, because the first EVEN is the EVEN of the ninth and the second EVEN, is the EVEN at the latter end of the DAY of atonement on the tenth day. People know when the evening or LAST PART of the day of Atonement has come.

So using the authors logic this time CORRECTLY-- Applying this principle to the Passover, the fifteenth day of the first month would be defined as beginning"in the fourteenth day of the month at EVEN "Keeping the lambs" until the fourteenth" meant keeping them through the fourteenth day of the month until evening, which ended the fourteenth and began the fifteenth. The thirteenth day isn't even mentioned AT ALL in the Exodus or Leviticus.

On page 47 (9) using Numbers 28:16 The author has now actually quoted a scripture correctly. In fact it does say that--"And the fourteenth DAY of the first month is the Passover of the lord". So now let us consider Gods mind in this. Here we are in the 19 hundreds, many years after the Israelites came out of Egypt. Do you not think that God wants us to use a little bit of intelligence in this TIMING idea.

God has (9) in fact given us SEVEN TIMES; Exodus 12: 6-7, 18; Duet 16:6; NUMBERS 9:3, 9:5, 9:11. And Joshua 5:10; that the time is at EVEN. Not morning not mid-day not midnight but at EVENING. So when we come to Numbers 28:16; and the author actually admits that a specific TIME is not given. That what God really means in this scripture is EVENING. Let's use just a little bit of our GOD given intelligence. Because evening is still part of DAY. OK?

Authors comment; Then (10) onto page 57 morning. And none of you shall go out until morning Ex 12:22. And what goes with this is. And ye shall observe this thing forever. verse 24.

OUR comment; (10) It was Moses (Although it appears that Aaron was doing the actual talking) that said "don't go out until morning" Ex 12:12. If God intended everyone to stay IN after the Passover service was over, i.e. Not go out into the NIGHT forever verse 24, then the Israelites broke that command when they became the lost ten tribes. Each member of the Worldwide Church of God has broken that command each time they have completed the service and gone out into the night. All the disciples and Christ went out into the night similarly breaking his own command. So do all who keep the 14th night. Aren't they silly billys?

Christ did not die immediately after they had sung a song and went out into the night. Neither did the disciples. WHY? Because the command to remain in the house until morning was given by Moses/Aaron and was only needed for that one NIGHT (the night to be much observed). Once the first born of the Egyptians had been killed at midnight. There was no longer any reason to stay in. The Israelites had to eat the Passover meal in HASTE, shoes on feet, STAFF in HAND- ready to go at a moments notice Ex 12:11-12. About 1 in the morning after ALL the firstborn had been KILLED the Egyptians told them to get out!!! verse 33 last part for "We ALL be dead men."

The order, FOREVER was applicable to the ceremony part only, i.e. killing of lamb; blood on doors and eating of unleavened bread. The FOREVER part shows that each successive generation had to do it until it was changed by the being that created it in the first place.

The Author contradicts (11) himself when he infers that Christ did die, as on page 212 second from bottom para, At midnight. Then again page 259 infers midnight, third para down. Then on page 273 third para from bottom; about the ninth hour. Then page 279 It was necessary that he die shortly before sunset so that he could be place in the tomb and it could be sealed precisely at the end of the day--sunset. ba erev.

OUR comment; So (11) even at the tail end of the book the Author cannot really make up his mind which to choose, midnight, shortly before sunset, or the ninth hour. The parts that are incorrect are at midnight, and `at the end of the day'. This he mucks up by saying sunset. How you get a body off the cross, prepared and sealed in a tomb virtually ALL AT THE SAME TIME is a puzzle. At the ninth hour he started to died. At even he was dead. Again he does admit on page 36 that The Jews fully understand that, even to this day, that as soon as the sun has set below the horizon, a new day has begun. So onto page 81.

Author states (7) An additional factor need to be borne in mind when considering the problems that would have resulted if the children of Israel had left their houses right after midnight: The children of Israel would have been forced to travel in the DARKNESS OF NIGHT, since the pillar of fire did not appear until after they had left Rameses--when the Exodus was fully under way.

OUR comment; (7) The Author has really missed the whole point of this exercise in the demonstration of Gods awesome power and timing. Why did God pick the night of the 15th to release the Israelites from under Pharaoh. Quite simply because this period of time being IN the month meant that God gave the Israelites all the moonlight they wanted to see to get OUT. By the Night of the 16th they were well under way under a full moon. And as most people now know there is very little cloud in the middle east compared with UK so they would have had BRIGHT moonlight.

Authors comment (12) On page 212 last paragraph but one at the bottom,-- AT MIDNIGHT, on the night of Jesus' last Passover, God the Father spared not His own son (Rom 8:32) Jesus became the Passover lamb of the new testament.

OUR comment; (12) is clearly not scriptural as Matt 26:31-Matt 27:52 is conveniently left out (a whole block of scripture at this point). Pages 278 and 279 vaguely produces 2 reasons why it was not at midnight. Also Rom 8:32 is quoted out of context as midnight is not even mentioned.

Timing of Jesus death

Authors comment (13) page 278 The fact that Jesus Christs death occurred close to the traditional time for killing the Passover lambs.

OUR comment; (13) Talk about hedging your bets, how close is close-- minutes? hours?

Authors comment (14) page 279 second para he dies shortly before sunset.

OUR comment; (Almost there): Christ (14) was dead before sunset as were the Passover lambs.

If Christ wanted us to keep the Passover on the evening of the 13th he would categorically have SAID seven times over to make it clear. He didn't. It was only the symbols that he changed. Plus adding foot washing after supper to show he wanted us to serve.

Authors comment (15) Page 282 top of page, Only true new covenant renewal ----is the annual Christian Passover Obseervance.

OUR comment; Again (15) is not scriptural as the New covenant is with the Spirit Born House of Israel which includes the Jews. See Ezekial 37 which started at Christs resurrection by accepting him.

The author does not understand the bible or the covenants.

So (16), onto page 191 the author refers to GIGANTIC PROBLEMS.

OUR comment; (16) As far as we are concerned the problems the author finds with the bible are his own making and his lack of understanding. The authors book was printed in 1993 with no actual modern dates to go by.

Conclusions.

Jewish history goes right back to Judah hence before Exodus and therefore the Jews know when the Sabbath is and when the High days and holy days are on the 19 year moon cycle recognising in other words the Jews have the laws of GOD.

The author has very conveniently left out Romans 3:2 which states that the Jews have the oracles of GOD which anyone can see if they read the Jewish Chronicle, also 1 Cor 10:32 which says offend NOT the Jews. He also ignores the simple fact that Christ was born a Jew and kept the conventional "Jewish" Passover right up until he was killed when he BECAME the Passover lamb. But (repeating) he does admit on page 36--that The Jews fully understand that, even to this day, that as soon as the sun has set below the horizon, a new day has begun.

The Study Paper (On the Passover) by Answers, Research and Education; San José California, frankly runs rings around the work of the author of "The Christian Passover". This is because the Study Paper is written in a concise logical way and covers the Hebrew and is the most accurate form of Passover study we have read to date.

Whereas the Author of the "Christian Passover" writes in a rambling confusing way where he agrees one minute with people then disagrees with them; in fact he agrees with God one moment and then infers that whole sections of the bible should be rewritten, by the author of course. As another author recently stated "The Christian Passover" is neither, Christian,-Passover- and definitely not biblical. It is just a deceived man's own imagination of what he thinks happened, should be and should not be; with an element of truth thrown in.

The Church of God agrees with GOD and his written word THE BIBLE.

WE will send a photocopy of the San José groups Study Paper for you to compare. However these copies are like GOLD DUST and so we ask you to make a copy of it and then send the original back to us with ANOTHER so we can send them onto others--thanks.

Exodus 12:6 and ye shall keep it up until the fourteenth day of the same month: and the whole congregation of Israel shall kill it in the EVENING.

Deut16:6-7 there thou shalt sacrifice the Passover at even, at the going down of the sun.

It is not a question of whether the Passover is on the 14th or 15th because the PASSOVER covers both days, i.e. the last part of the 14th and all of the 15th. only Satan tries to split.

MAKE SURE YOU ARE NOT DECEIVED
